Hello friends. I have sad news to share. Yesterday morning, Ernie left this world and made his journey to the Rainbow Bridge. He bravely fought small cell lymphoma for 6 1/2 years and had several other health issues. He was such a trooper…putting up with the many vet visits, taking his various medications and me constantly worrying about him.

But about a month ago, fluid was found in his abdomen and his health declined over the last few weeks. His little body could fight no more.

Ernie Forever

I am utterly shattered…my heart has been broken into a million pieces. I will miss Ernie so much and my life will not be the same without him. 18 years was not enough.

Thank you to all of you who loved Ernie, too. Thanks to Ann for the beautiful graphic.

Paw and hand

I spent your entire life loving you…
Now I will spend the rest of mine missing you.

Love you forever.

  21. Losing Ernie is like losing the sunshine.

His lovely photos and his cattitude leave a huge HUGE gap and I feel a tremendous sense of loss. He was an absolutely amazing cat and the world is a sadder place without him.

  22. No amount of time is ever enough. I am so sorry. XO

  23. When a soul leaves its mortal body, it is lifted by the wind unseen by adult human eyes, which have been cleared of the ability to experience magic. The soul floats to the nearest river, then rides the current until it enters the River of Life, which gently carries the soul to Rainbow Bridge. The new angel emerges from the water, having discarded all the pain and sorrow of mortal life (often transferred to those mortals nearest to them,). The soul then crosses the River of Life via the Rainbow Bridge and is reunited with their predecessors who loved them while they were mortal; then, a glorious reunion takes place. Their predecessors teach the new angel how to dream visit, to inhibit the bodies of furry and winged creatures so the angel can watch over their loved ones. So, if you see a bird or little animal watching you, or wake up from a dream feeling light of heart, know your angel has been with you. Death is not the end, it’s a temporary separation, and if you never stop loving the angel, you will be together again in a place called Rainbow Bridge

  24. I’m so sorry Ernie has crossed The Bridge. No amount of time ever seems long enough to share with them. After 18 years of love, he will never be forgotten. We’ll light a candle in Ernie’s memory tonight. Purrs.

  25. I am so sad and sorry. You’re right, we never have long enough.

  26. I’m so sorry Ernie left for kitty heaven. Ernie, you always made me smile when you shared your life and handsome photos with all of us. Wally and Zoey are hugging you. Love you Ernie. Hugs to your mom and dad.

  27. Dearest Sue, I cannot believe Ernie is gone. This truly breaks my heart. I absolutely loved looking into those gorgeous eyes each week. If I had gotten here yesterday, I would have included a remembrance of him on today’s Sunday Selfies. But I will do it next week if that’s okay. I cannot imagine how quiet your home must be with all three of your sweeties, who we came to know and love, now at the bridge. I know you will all be together again. It just has to work out that way. You will be in my heart and prayers as you grieve and remember. Love and warm hugs Janet and all the Kitties Blue past and present. ‍⬛

  28. So very sorry. . . Blessings for healing, peace and comfort. . . Ernie will ALWAYS be with you. . .

  32. Oh, we are are devastaed and in tears, tears, tears. Loulou loved Ernie more than you can know…we knew he was not well, and 18 years are amazing for a kitty. Perhaps Loulou and Ernie will now be close friends, with no pain, only joy. So so sad for you. Remember always that he is in no pain even if you and we and so many who loved him, are….

  33. A life well lived and well loved is a marvellous thing. Ernie’s was just that. And whilst he has shed his body, his essence will have moved on. That is the Buddhist way we believe. Good memories are a gift from those we love, and a celebration of all good things, ours and theirs. And whilst a heart may mourn it is also one that should celebrate.
Condolences and much love and comforting purrs to you all
    ERin & Mrs H
