So let’s see what’s on the Big Screen today…

Hey, Wally!!  Check out this big birdie out there!!

Ernie, I think that’s a duck!!!

 A duck, Wally??
I know we live on an island, but we’re not near the water.
What’s a duck doing on our front lawn??

I dunno, Ernie…
But I heard mom and dad talking
and they said they found a nest with eggs in it!!

The nest is in these bushes in front of the house.

Look, Ernie!!  There’s 5 eggs in it!!

Are those eggs gonna hatch, Wally???

I dunno, Ernie…we’ll just hafta wait and see!!

Wow, Wally!  That’s just ducky!!  Heheheh!

  29. Oh! It’s Mrs.Mallard. She used to live with us and Mr.Mallard. One day she disappeared and never came back. We wondered where she went. She didn’t tell us she was going to visit you.

  30. That is really neat! Duckies right in your front yard. Keep an eye out because if the duckies are like the geese after the young ones hatch the geese take the little ones and go someplace else. I don’t know why but they do. Hope you get photos of the wee ones. Please try not to eat them up.

PS: Sorry for missing out on a number of your posts. Lazy humans…

  40. We got to see baby ducks on the river. Their Mom and Dad were escorting them. Mom in front and Dad in back. Maybe it was visa versa. No matter, they were protected. They have been around several times now with just Mom. They have gotten bigger now. It has been fun watching them. You will see when the eggs at your place hatch. All the little goslings disappeared though. One had four but they are gone. Mom wanted to watch them grow.
