You guys! Today is Patriot Day…the day we remember the tragic events that happened this day in 2001 when evil humans flew plans into the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. That was a very sad day in our country’s history.

But now this day is a national day of remembrance. We remember and honor the thousands of innocent people that lost their lives that day because of those evil acts…the people in the Towers and Pentagon, the firefighters and policemen who tried to save them, and the brave people on United Airlines Flight 93 that stopped that plane from flying into any other buildings.

I hope you all don’t mind that I’m using this graphic from last year for my selfie. I have to say, my selfie with our American flag is not only appropriate, it’s darn near purrfect.

  1. Yes Ernie, that is a purrfect picture.
    Mum remembers that sad day.
It is still hard to imagine that humans could do such a horrific thing.
The only thing they succeeded in doing is to make our humans all stronger in their resolve to fight terrorism.

  2. That was a terrible day. The only good thing was we became a county of just Americans for a while.

  3. We will always remember that day. Your selfie is purrfect.

  4. Hey Ernie – your selfie is not pretty darn perfect – it’s VERY VERY perfect!! It is a day that is a FOREVER remembrance – even though I wasn’t around then, my Mom and Dad were and they were in Paris, France on vacation…..imagine not even being home when that happened. It was awful and they had to wait and wait to get the first plane back into Washington, DC. Anyway, we hope that you have a peaceful, quiet and nap-filled Patriot Day.

    Hugs, Teddy

  5. That is a handsome Patriot Day selfie, Ernie. We will never forget that day, and the irretrievable effects it has had on our country and the world.

  6. A day of reflection, a day of great sadness ~ it is also a day we should remember how we came together and pray that without the terror of such a horrific event we can find the will to come together yet again.

  14. I love this graphic, Ernie!

  15. Sorry I am late catching up. Teddy did a runner and disappeared overnight. I spotted him but we had to wait until the hunger bit before he came home. We are also mourning Great Britain’s reigning monarch so these are sad times and catching up is a bit of a mission!

You look fine and patriotic Ernie, well done indeed.

  16. Itis darn purrfect. Do you know the NYFD has lost as many firefighters to cancer and 9/11 diseases as perished in the fire?

  17. Yes, Ernie, your selfie is great for today…well…yesterday…because it reminds us to never forget, and to teach future generations what it means, and we’ll be a stronger country if we all band together and not EVER forget.

  18. Your furs are so gorgeous, Ernie!

  19. Purrfect tribute Ernie, this is a lovely post.
