You guys! Y’know…the best toys are those that stay with you over the years. No matter how much you claw them, chew on them, and knock them around…they don’t fall apart.

Close up of Ernie with an old toy

Here I am…taking a selfie with one of my toys like that. This thing has to be at least 10 years old. You can see how well loved it is. It used to be off-white. Now it’s a dingy grayish-green…probably from soaking up too much cat spit. Yep..it takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’.

This toy is still a lotta fun to play with…and now it’s time to see how much more it can take.

Do you have any old toys you still like to play with?

  1. Mum would often take some of my toys and marinate them in catnip for a while.
    Mmmmmmmm! That was good 😉
    Purrs, Julie

  2. It is good to have a favourite toy. Eric wasn’t much for toys but he loved his Scruffy Rat which he had from a kitten.

  3. We have quite a few “well loved” toys that we always go back to.

  4. Looking good, Ernie. Well-loved toys are often the best ones! Ava recently found a felt snakey that was Moosey’s. None of the other cats really ever cared for it, but Ava pulled it out of the toy box. 🙂

  5. ERNIE! I have one TOO!

  6. It’s nice to have a beloved toy, Ernie!

  9. Alas, Ernie, most of Our Toys don’t last ten days, let alone ten years (mol).
That’s why We prefurr cardboard boxes, egg cartons, paper bags, etc.
Although wait – there is Trixie’s Blue Rabbit – We almost forgot him. He has been with her since Mummy gotcha’d her, nearly 10 years ago…

  10. Keep having fun Ernie, the toys will love you for it, they need attention too! Wonderful selfies!!!

  11. Great photos Ernie! Glad you’re having fun.

  12. The old toy I love to play with is MAMA…UH, OH, she heard that…I’m oughta here…

  13. Hey Ernie – that’s a super selfie……and I love my old toys – I’m not big on toys at all but the old ones (especially the ones Angel Sammy left for me) are my faves. They smell right, feel right, and have plenty of “character” (spit) that makes them so LOVABLE.

    Hugs, Teddy

  14. Well-loved toys are the best! So many memories.

  15. Our toys only get thrown out if they are seriously torn up or disgusting!

  16. I love your pose Ernie, you really do know how to hold those paws. That must be a really favourite toy!

  17. My Mom throws our toys in the wash! It doesn’t work AS WELL with catnip inside, but the old ones with catnip do fine.

  18. Yes, old toys are best as you have rubbed your scent in them! Purrs and hugs!

  19. Must have good nip inside.

  20. Looking epic dude, and we love your toy!

  21. Ernie I 100% believe cat slobber has preservative in it…that puts things in a permanent petrified state..
    Hugs cecilia

  22. Ernie, those oldie but goodie toys are the best, aren’t they? Angel Rosie had a certain canvas mouse toy for nearly her entire 21 years of life. It lives in her keepsake box now, and it definitely looks its age. Purrs, and have a purrfect playtime with your loyal toy!

  23. That is amazing that it lasted that long.

  24. We’re impressed that it’s in that good a shape, Ernie! We would have bitten a hole in it ages ago.

  25. We had some faves that lasted ages…and sometimes we would ‘resurrect’ them!

    Great selfie,Ernie!

  26. That is one well loved toy! Our kitties still love ping pong balls and springs.

  27. Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day Ernie!
