You guys! This is my not so happy selfie. Why am I not happy? Well, lemme tell ya. It’s a little embarrassing.
The other day, the mom caught me licking my nether regions and when she checked to see why, she found that one of my anal glands had ruptured. Not just swollen and red like it has done before…but this time a full blow out and it was kinda bleeding and leaking gross stuff.
So you know what that meant, right? Yep, I got hauled off to the vet where they not only cleaned but they SHAVED my private area! What the fluff!?! I actually heard the vet tech, Miss Linda, say I had a baboon butt now. Oh the indignity of it all!
And I have to take icky medicine so that the area doesn’t get infected. The only good thing? I don’t have to wear the cone of shame, thank cod. That would just add insult to my injury.
So now you guys know why I don’t look happy. Seriously, can you blame me? If you could send some healing purrs my way, I’d really appreciate it.

Oh, ugh! We’re sorry you had to go through all that, Ernie. The vet tech calling you baboon butt was added salt in the wound, so to speak. We hope the meds help you heal quickly!

Well, she didn’t really call me a baboon butt, but said I had a baboon butt. I actually like Miss Linda a lot. She’s always nice to me.

Oh Ernie – we hope you heal up ok ! We have known kitties that happened to and it is painful to the kitty,so we are glad your Mom got you taken care of. It will be a bit cooler anyway…and no cone is a good thing !
Oh Ernie, everything starts going to hell at our age. Sending healing purrz. I didn’t have to wear the cone of shame either for my paw but TW watched like a hawk that I didn’t lick it. Before surgery I used to lick it till it bled. Dr. H. said the cone would only serve to stress me out. She understands cats.
Well, that’s just a bummer (so to speak). We hope you have a very speedy recovery. At least no one recommended a sitz bath!
Ernie, this must have been a fright for your Mum, so all the fuss and bother is worth it because you will not get sore. Grumpy maybe but you will soon be OK again. Hang in there * paw hug *

Ernie OMCs what an ordeal. I am so thankful your nether regions have been taken care of and you are home. My first and second grand cats (both cornish rexes) had a terrible time with anal glands.

Ernie, we are sending lots of POTP and purrs. Of the 20 cats Mom has had, she feels fortunate that none have had an anal gland problem. We certainly can understand the sad face.
