Hey guys! How’s it going? Can you guess where I am for this week’s selfie?

Close up of Ernie in his tunnel

If you said in my tunnel…you’d be right! I’ve been hanging out in here lately. Being that I’m a black cat and that it’s black inside here makes it really hard to see me. It’s a great hiding spot when I wanna get away from it all. Though it drives the mom crazy.

Wanna know what happened the other day? She was looking for me. She looked everywhere…all my normal napping spots…then closets, under the bed, every nook and cranny she could think of. Except in my tunnel. She couldn’t find me and started to get a little worried. Then I made the mistake of moving around in here and she heard the familiar crinkle of the tunnel. My secret hiding spot was a secret no more. Oh well…it was fun watching her search for as long as she did.

How ‘bout you? Do you have a secret hiding spot?

  1. That was fun to watch your mum looking for you. If you kept your eyes shut she would never find you!

  3. Ernie, that is a great selfie! And I, as a black cat, do that, too. Sometimes I hide where my mom and dad can’t find me. MOL. – Ava

  4. Tee Hee! I love to hide…….I have LOTS of great hiding spots to choose from. Isn’t it fun to fool them? I love it when they walk right by me….haha

    Hugs, Teddy

  5. We have a couple cardboard boxes with doors cut in them to hide inside. We never answer when called or come out. It is fun to watch people search for us!

  10. That is a great spot Ernie and with you matching the interior all the better. Great seeing you!
We all have good hiding spots but Rumpy is the master of being invisible in plain sight. Being so big you would think “Impossible” but he pulls it off. I think he has mind control or something.

  11. Your mom is lucky you moved or she might have gone out to search the neighborhood.

  16. * Laughs out loud * oooh Ernie, tell me about the looking high and low for a cat in plain sight!! Good one and I hope you made mum laugh too!!

  17. I think your family needs tunnel vision, Ernie!

  18. Love the leopard print! The other day I came home from work and couldn’t find Mudpie anywhere. Then a “meow” came from her Summer Clubhouse (Walmart box). “Here I am, Mommy!”

  19. Good job at hiding Ernie!

  20. Great hiding spot, Ernie! And you do have such beautiful eyes!

  21. Hi Ernie! (Marv waves wildly). I do have a favorite hiding spot…But Mom has not yet discovered it,so I’m not tell here. We are back online. We are back on line until the fires wipe out more of our internet infrastructure. We are grateful that we are happy, healthy and safe right now!

  22. Theo envies your stealthiness… he’s never found a hiding place from me…but that maybe a deliberate choice…

  23. My human thinks she has found all my hiding spots. But you never know!

  24. That tunnel looks like the purrfect mancat cave, Ernie! Tonks is the master of finding new hiding spots at our house. She sometimes tries to hide in tunnels, but those things sure are loud and can give you away, can’t they, Ernie? Purrs!

  26. Oh! I want a cool tunnel like that! You are very handsome, Mr. Ernie. ~Lily

  27. Ernie, a couple of us have used that same trick and really freaked our mom out as well. Maybe you telling us about this will be her reminder to look there when she cannot find one of us. Your selfie turned out great and showed off those fabulous eyes of yours. Thanks for being a faithful hoper. 28. Minko had plenty of hidey holes, and sometimes petcretary had a lot of trouble to find him…so she would get out a fave toy or the catnip container…
Pipo hardly ever hid until the last few months, but he was pretty easy to find, LOL!

You do blend in with your tunnel, Ernie!

  29. now if I told you my secret hiding spots and my Mom reads your blog, she would know, right? Fuhget about it, I’m an intelligent sort. Love, Roary

  30. A dark tunnel is a fun place to hide from mom. Too bad about those crinkle noises.

  31. In my experience, black cats are very good at hiding! There were a couple times we thought we lost Sam, and then she just turned up. We never did figure out where her secret spot was!
