Hey guys. Not much going on today. It’s still hot…the windows are still closed…the cold air thingy is still blowing hard. Same ol’…same ol’.

black cat

I’m bored with all of this…and my selfie shows it.

But wait…there is something new. You guys wanna know what those stupid swallows have done now? Well, maybe if you’re the Trout Towne Tabbies you don’t. But I’ll tell you anyways.

swallows nest

Those swallows built another nest on our deck. This time on top of a speaker that’s bolted on the back of the house. There’s a couple of these speakers…they were there when we moved here and the peeps don’t even know if they work or not. But I guess they work pretty good as a spot to build a nest. The mom is gonna wait until the swallows are gone and then remove that nest along with the other one they built. Then she’ll make sure to block those areas so the swallows won’t do it again.

I dunno…those birds are pretty tenacious. I bet they’ll figure out a way to build another nest on our deck some place.

  1. Say Ernie, I’d say your expression is more one of glazed over zoning, like you’ve tuned out everything and everyone around you and are focusing on absolutely nothing. Dad says the nest on the speaker thing reminded him of a house he saw once back at home. This beautiful old Victorian- though slightly dilapidated- had obnoxious chicken wire tacked to the eaves here and there, apparently to keep the pigeons from settling and pooping all over.

  2. Oh Ernie, how we wish we know what you are thinking! Purrs and hugs!

  3. We are so over this weather!!! And it’s only getting worse this week! Stay cool!

  4. It’s hot here too, but we don’t have A/C. Stay cool ! Purrs

  5. We’re with you, Ernie. It’s bpring, but we are grateful for our cool air blowy thingy. Those swallows are so resourceful. Those speakers were there when you guys moved in? Mom and Dad should try to get them working. 🙂

  6. It’s boring here too Ernie. Too hot to do anything, but stay indoors. Take it easy and enjoy lots of naps.

  7. Summer sure slows everybody down, except the swallows apparently. You are looking beautiful as ever today Ernie, even bored you are beautiful.

  8. You do look a little bored Ernie! Those silly birds have been busy.

  9. Well they can be pretty annoying BUT gotta hand it to them – they chose a great spot for a nest – up high, out of the weather – nice flat surface. Now if the speakers worked I’m sure that would blast them out of there but you don’t want to do that. Soon they’ll be on their way like it never happened!

    Hugs, Teddy

  10. I get the bored bit. Swallows make such a mess that they need to be discouraged to build nests.

  11. Aww, Ernie…just take another nap, and you won’t be as bored, amIright?
It’s just noon on Sunday, and so far, the house is still cool enough. Overnight, I’m sure, is going to be the toughest time without a/c!

  12. Nice selfie. Great place to build a nest 🙂

  13. Ernie nose kisses and many awwwwwws at your handsome self.
    Cheeky swallows!!
    Hugs Cecilia

  14. Ernie those birds are a bit stubborn so I know they will be somewhere else. If they are somewhere you can see maybe you can dream of a nice snack. That is good for boredom MOL

  15. Those swallows will build anywhere! When the weather is good the door is open all day and they keep flying in the porch looking for somewhere to build their nest. One year I didn’t notice them coming in and out, and when I went to shut the door at night they had already built over an inch deep on top of it!

  16. Mee-yow Ernie you look a bit dazed…maybee yore so ‘chill’ from A/C??? Mee went out fore sum fresh air today butt it not ;fresh’! It iss equivvylent of 104 deegreess here. LadyMew iss coff-inn flemm (not a purrty pickture!) an her Assmah iss turribell….
Man wee need sum more rain an maybee sum snow…just kiddin…sorta…
An what ’bout puttin up a Swallow House on a Pole?? They are neet bir housess…then again yore swallowss mite prefurr more naturelle nestin……

  17. Ernie my friend! You are looking mighty handsome! We have been even worser than usual, haven’t we? We miss you and Zoey and the Lady With the Yellow Hair, and we hope you are all doing okay. I am working on whipping the old bat into shape. We’ll see I guess! XOXOXO

  18. They’re very creative! Seems like everything is same ol’, same ol’ this summer.

  19. .. … and I thought you were meditating on the infinite possibilities of a nap! Never mind!!

Those swallows have a lot of sense, they found a nice flat spot! I hope you get to see the family one day!

  20. Wow, your deck is very popular with the swallows! I hope they won’t get aggressive with your pawrents.
    Happy Sunday xo

  21. A/C is an awesome human invention, I have to say!

  22. I would feel honored somehow if swallows or any bird for that matter would make a nest on our porch…last time we had a nest on the house was way, way back in the late 1980’s,and a blue Jay nest was under our eaves…and had 4 babies in it, but a coon ripped it all up. Sheesh:(

We are so over the hot humid weather…its only about a month and a half till the official Fall…maybe that will be our ticket to more pleasant days.

  23. They probably will – sparrow don’t see to give up.

  24. Yeah…we bet taking away those nests won’t stop next year’s sparrows. Ernie, once again we must tell you what stunning eyes you have. Boredom does set in this time of year. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  25. Get some mylar ribbon from the hardware store and tie it where they like to nest. The blowing ribbons scare them off! We had to do that with the front porch light so they’d quit nesting on the light.

  26. Oh, you have enough live bird tv on your deck, Ernie. Never a dull moment, right 😉 Extra Pawkisses to all of you 🙂 ♥

  27. I guess it’s good if those speakers don’t work. Otherwise those birds are in for a surprise!

  28. We always wonder why birds don’t just build their nests in trees. Isn’t that what they are supposed to do?? 🙂

  29. It’s same old same old here too, Ernie. We all need some excitement!
