Hi guys. Ernie here. I have some sad news. You guys remember the garden center cats, Chip and Slim, right? We’ve shared stories about them in the past…how they showed up at the dad’s garden center and the dad decided to let them stay.
Well, I’m sad to say we lost Chip last week. He became very ill and the mom and dad took him to the vet but unfortunately, the prognosis wasn’t good. So the difficult decision was made to let him go.
Y’know…even though he was an outside cat, Chip had a pretty good life. He was an adventurer…and it wasn’t unusual to see him prowling around the garden center and the surrounding area. But he always had a sheltered area to come back to and 2 meals a day.
And even though he was still a little skittish around humans, the last few years he began to seek people out. It wasn’t unusual to find him sitting outside the store door wanting to get inside. Customers loved seeing him in the store, lounging around. Eventually he would saunter off to the back room for a long snooze in a quiet spot.
We hope Slim will be okay without having his buddy around. The dad will be keeping a close eye on him.
Fly free, Chip. You brought a lot of joy to the people who cared about you…especially the dad…and you will forever be missed.
