Ernie wearing an e-collar

Hi guys. I bet you’re wondering why I’m wearing this blue donut. Well, y’see…there was a little “situation” last week. I had…*whispering*…an anal gland abscess. I got dragged off to the vet…who did some nasty things to my nether regions. And now I gotta wear the donut to keep me from licking that area until it heals. Not to mention I gotta take some icky medicines, too. Have you ever tried to eat or sleep while wearing one of these things? It’s no fun.

Sheesh. I had one of these gland things 5 years ago and it was a pain in the you-know-what then…and it’s a pain in the you-know-what now…literally!

Sorry…this isn’t my best selfie. But trying to take one with this thing around my neck isn’t easy. Hey…send me some healing purrs and good thoughts that I’m better soon and can lose this thing. The only donut I want is the kind you can eat!

  4. Honey, they made cloth collars that are less bulky? Or would you defeat the purpose?

  5. Poor Ernie! We is so sorry you’re having to wear that silly cone.

  6. Yuck. We’re sorry you had to go through that and hope you heal quickly, so you can get rid of that “donut.”

(I used to take Nicki in every 3 – 4 months to have his anal glands expressed. It was a hassle, but luckily, he never abscessed. Sending Ernie healing energy!)

  10. Ernie my 100% condolences for the PITT….I will say that shade of blue is very becoming.

Years ago my daughter had a kitty with the same issues. Vet asked her if she wanted him to show her how to express them. MY DAUGHTER REPLIED SOME THINGS ARE WORTH PAYING FOR AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM.

    Heal quickly

  11. Ernie, we won’t tell the world-wide interwebs about your rear-end…promise!

  12. Oh, you poor darling! And a BLUE one. At least they could have given you something that would go with your beautiful fur…those guys have no taste at all, those collar-designers. Get well SOON and you probably will. You nether know…oops. Sorry.

  13. Ernie oh my that is one dangling donut you have on there. I had to wear one for a month way back when I was a very young kitty here and was burned by my pulling hot water on myself when I was trying to grab some noms. They are waaaay better than the cone so get used to it and you will be back to not having to wear it in no time. Many purrs to help heal up that A_ _ of yours.

  14. aww ernie we r so sorree dat yor butt hertz

  15. Oh, Ernie, that’s horrible, but wearing a donut is even more horrible. It made me very depressed when I had to wear my collar, so I can understand how you feel 🙁 Healing Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday and I hope it heals up soon 🙂 <3

  16. Ernie, you look so sad in your selfie. I’m sorry you had issues with your back door, but I’m glad the vet was able to fix everything. Sending healing purrs your way. Try to get lots of sleeps and hopefully that big donut won’t be on for long.

  18. Now if you hadn’t said about the pain, I would just have thought you were doing an Elizabethan reenactment, MOL
Hope you gets better in the Netherlands very soon.

  19. Oh sweetie, we feel so bad for you. We hope you are better soon. You managed to do a great selfie in spite of the donut.

  34. Ernie! you are so darn photogenic, my Mom did not notice your donut until she read me the post! Kozmo sympathizes. he had to have ear medicine (he has an abscess behind his ear) and he has been wearing his yellow collar. We agree (me and Ninja), we would not want to wear either he cone of shame or the donut!

  35. Oh poor Ernie. I’m so sorry you have to go through such a hard time. I hope it will heal quickly and you can get rid of the doughnut. Purrs to you xo

  37. I have “anal gland” problems too. I get squeezed every couple months. But why the inflated collar? But BTW, the inflatable collar sure beats the “cone”… ~ IZA

  38. Oh Ernie I’m sorry you have to wear that donut (even if it is a nice shade of blue) until your – well – derriere heals up but it’s for the best. Be brave. You can do this – meanwhile I’m sending you a big huge bag of POTP!

    Hugs, Teddy

  39. We hope you feel better soon, Ernie.

    Purrs xx

  40. After all of this, we hope your mom buys you a whole BOX of donuts!

  41. Ernie, you are still handsome as ever even in the donut! We hope you heal quickly and can take the donut off soon!

Funny story…Pirate had a blow out a few years ago, and they put in a drain. He was wearing his cone of shame and doing fine. He was doing so well, that we took the cone off the day before his recheck at the vet. He went in, and we told the vet how well he was doing, not messing with the drain and all. When the vet went to take the drain out..Pirate had already removed it! He made a liar out of us!

  42. Sending purrs to get better soonest.

  43. We are sorry you are having to deal with this issue, Ernie, but appreciate you still putting in the effort to do a selfie!

  44. Hope you’re feeling better!

  45. oh wow Ernie!! That is NOT good!!! You took having a pain in the ass to an entirely new level! (sorry pal, but this is Cody typing and you know I have to try and make you laugh)…..seriously pal, hoping you feel better soon! That can’t be fun for sure! Love, Cody

  46. Ernie, you are still amazingly handsome with that bright blue donut! Sorry we are so late in getting here to give you some purrs and POTP. Hope you heal quickly and get out of that restrictive apparatus! XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
