Hi guys! You know what today is? It’s my Gotcha Day! That’s right! Even though we’re still not feeling much in the partying mood, the mom said we couldn’t let this day go by without acknowledging that 13 years ago today the mom rescued me from the shelter and I became an Island Cat. That was one of the BEST days of my life.
So I bet you’re all wondering how we’re doing. It’s still a sad time for us, but we’re doing okay…still adjusting to this new way of life. I miss my buddy Wally…a lot. Zoey hasn’t been much help. All she does is hiss at me and run under the bed. Girlcats…sheesh. The mom says Wally is still here…maybe not physically…but he’s watching over us. She’s right…I can feel him here.
One thing, I’ve been way more vocal lately. The mom can’t figure out what I’m saying. I’ve tried to tell her that Wally was always the talker around here. And now it’s my chance to get a word or two in.
We’re still getting acclimated to our new house. We had some visitors the other day. Check them out.
Do you think they came by to celebrate my Gotcha Day? Lemme tell you…they sure make a lot of noise! All that squawking and honking…what a ruckus!
A few of them decided to go ice skating on the river.
The mom says she hopes they don’t make a habit of visiting us all the time because they’re the worst kind of guests…messy and they never clean up after themselves.
We’re going to slowly get back to blogging. We’ll probably make some changes here and there…we’re still figuring things out.

Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie. You have a beautiful back yard. You must enjoy the view.
It is so good to see you Ernie, Happy Gotcha Day pal. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t think of you all. Hugs.
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie. xx
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie!
Of course you are all missing Wally. It is early days and it will take a long time to find your new normal. He will always be with you in your hearts though.
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie. We’ve been sending you all good thoughts!!! Hugs!
Happy Gotcha Day! My Cassie and Elliot agree with you about getting a chance to talk. (Though, it’s still freaking this human out a bit, as I thought they were my quiet ones. )
Happy Gotcha Day!
We miss Wally too.
The Florida Furkids
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie.
It takes time to adjust to changes, and in your case, it’s been a change of home as well as a very sad parting. Take it slow, take the time you need.
We do hope you enjoy your day, maybe get extra treats. You certainly have a great TV channel to watch! Our human likes geese, but oh yes, they’re super-messy.
Take care.
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie! We hope you have a great day!
It will take time to find the new normal without your buddy, Wally. We know you miss him terribly. We are all purring for you.
happy gotcha day… both theo and diego-san have also become a lot more vocal since we lost our talker…
HAPPY Gotcha Day Ernie. Change is hard and losing a buddy is very sad….
Have a wonderful day, Ernie! We know that change is hard but we hope you can find a way to celebrate, even a little.
Happy 13th Gotcha Day Ernie….you are looking as handsome as EVER!! Zoey..OMCs…such a diva…but then I understand how Divas are.
Today would have been Angel Madi’s 17th birthday. I do 100% understand figuring things out…
Hugs Cecilia
Oh, Ernie and Zoey, I think you’ll become better friends now that you share sadness and I hope you’ll make your mama and papa feel better. What BEAUTIFUL place to wander….
What are the birds? Lovely, if messy….
Hey Ernie! Happy gotcha day — those geese look kind of tasty but I guess it’s rude to eat the party guests. Sorry Zoey isn’t more fun–but maybe you can get your Mom down on the floor with you and bat around some toy mice? I mean, she looks like a fun gal.
What a happy day for you, Ernie. Celebration paws up from eight housepanthers! And the odd girls too. We’re glad you have something to lift your spirits and are envious of your view.
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie and many, many more. I started to talk more too after Derby was gone. I had the chance to say my piece!
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie!
I got way more outgoing after I became the only kitty here, and I too talk more. Guess we have to let the peeps know what we are thinking, since the kitty friends we had aren’t there anymore…
Petcretary sent out an email to your mom a couple days ago with a card for you…not sure if it arrived?
Pawkisses for a Happy Gotcha Day, sweet Ernie <3 It's nice to see the gooseys coming to your Gotcha Pawty, we're sure they were send by an Angel <3 Pawkisses for a Happy Monday to all of you 🙂 <3

Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie! We hope you have a wonderful day of celebration.
We know it must be hard for you without your bro–William went through the same thing when Russell left. He talked a lot afterwards, too. We miss Wally too but know that in time it will get better for you and your family.
Have a great GOTCHA celebration Ernie. I know you would like Wally there physically but you can bet your bottom dollar he’s THERE keeping you company all the time. I’m glad you’re getting the talking bug because I think maybe Wally wanted YOU to become the “spokesman” for the blog and the family there. Get your practice in because we’re hoping you all get back to the blogosphere soon – we miss you. Your view of the back yard is so beautiful. Those Canada Geese are messy things aren’t they! They think they own everyone’s yard…..! You straighten them out Ernie.
Hugs, Teddy
It’s sure nice to see you, Ernie. We’re glad you’re enjoying such interesting Birdy TV.
Happy Gotcha Day.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.
I know you all miss Wally. I do too. ♥
Happy Gotcha day Ernie. I imagine it is confusing to not have Wally around to snuggle with now and then. Zoey is a loaner kitty and she never was warm and snuggly with you. Give your Mom some purrs she needs them.
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie!
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie! Sing that out to the world! We have some of those honkers that fly over our house all winter long and they poop on our skylights. No one likes guests like that! Luckily, ours leave at the end of April and spring rains wash most of their mess away. Couldn’t happen soon enough for us!
Sending you hugs and purrs on your Gotchaversary, Ernie!
Look at you big feets!
Happy happy Gotcha day dear Ernie. We are keeping you in our hearts as you maneuver your daily life without the physical presence of Wally. Hugs and kisses.
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie! We miss Wally, too, and it must be really difficult to adjust to life without him. We send soft purrs your way. xo
Lovely view from your window. Fun photo of the birdies ice skating, even though they are worst kind of guests 🙂
Happy Gotcha Day #13 Ernie! Hope you like your new home. Lots of new “friends” (?) outside I see! Wally has big paws to fill, but I think you can do it!
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie!! We think maybe Wally sent those guests to help you celebrate, he wanted to make you all smile about ice skating birds. ♥
We’ve been thinking of you and are glad to hear from you, and that you’re doing as well as can be expected. Big hugs from all of us to all of you.
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie! We were wondering how all of you were doing. In our house, girl cats run up and kick the boys out of their bed or steal their food. Maybe Zoey will be more fun with time.
Ernie your so gorgeous happy gotcha day although we understand it won’t all be purrs. So sad your best buddy left for rainbow bridge but Wally will always be with you. We love you all.x
Ernie you sure do look very handsome for your Gotcha day photo! We wish you a happy one and we know Wally would want you to celebrate (even though it’s hard to). xoxoxox
Happy gotcha day, Ernie! I’m sure you and the humans are still missing Wally lots.
Happy Gotcha day Ernie we are just so glad you found such a good home. We know your family is missing Wally like crazy. It is soooooo hard when a fur friend has to go to the bridge. Our human mom knows that so well. Good to see your handsome face, Ernie and big hugs to all of you.

So sorry you lost your buddy. Cats in general can be odd. Ours are not big dog fans most of the time. As for the geese, get rid of them. They are mean and nasty, and poop all over creation. They are pretty, but pretty doesn’t override all the trouble they come along with.
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie! You go ahead and talk all you want. Ernie’s missed terribly, but a bit of him was left behind by your speaking up and taking the kitty reins in the household now. – Tom x
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie from black panther to another I just had my 14th gotcha day a few months back, I got rescued from the streets by my mum so I know how good it feels to get your furever home. You have a gorgeous backyard to look at and it will get easier with time the loss. Maybe you’ll get a new friend when the time feels right. That’s how I ended up with my brother. Purrs and prayers Shadow
Happy Happy Gotcha Day Ernie!!!!!!! Sending you love and (((hugs))) we know you have to miss Wally terribly, we do too. Your view is GORGEOUS at your new home………just gorgeous! But…..I have bad news……those geese are here to stay, wait til their babies start hatching in the next month or two………we have TONS of geese here…….I’m afraid you just have to learn to live with them!
Happy Gotcha Day sweet Ernie! I am sure Wally’s spirit is with you always. XO
So good to see you Ernie and it’s your Gotcha Day. What a great day….13 you say. This is a great age. I haven’t reached it yet but soon I will celebrate with you. I am the kitty here who hisses and runs under the bed. I’m not used to males and they smell odd. Maybe you don’t Ernie but the one that lives here does.
So nice to see you blogging again.
Shoko
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie!!!
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie. For the last thirteen years, you have been in such a pawsome home. We hope you have plenty of celebrating to do. Thanks for sharing the great day with us. Have a wonderful rest of your week.
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie. I’m glad you were gotcha-ed.
Happy Gotcha Day, sweetheart! We miss you guys and think of you often.
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie. I know what you mean about adjusting to life without brother Wally. My sister Sammi was the dominant kitty and got all the good beds & hogged all the attention. When she left us, I slowly came out of my shell and now I’m much more social and I get all the great sleeping spots. Those geese are interesting, but maybe you need to borrow a doggy to chase them (and their goose poopies) so they’re not too comfortable in your yard.
Happy Gotcha Day! I know so very well the pain and adjustment your family and home have to undergo now. You have all my sympathy.
Oh Ernie, happy Gotcha Day – and many more. We are glad to see all you Islanders back. Everybody misses Wally. We think he is still with you too. Purrs.
Happy 13th Gotcha Day, Ernie! I became a lot more vocal when Minchie ran off to the Bridge last summer. I never stood a chance with him around so now I’m making up for lost time. We get a lot of those geese here and are they ever loud…an messy! Take your time figuring things out. We all know it takes time to get use to the new normal.
Ernie, Happy Gotcha Day you handsome mancat you. I have missed you and so glad to see you. Zoe…maybe it’s time to come out from under the bed…you think?
Love you bunches and certainly Angel Wally as well.
We sent those Canadian geese over to say hi and offer some comfort! But don’t judge the rest of us Canadians by our geese! We clean up after ourselves! Hope things get easier with time.
Happy gotcha day, Ernie! It’s so nice to see you! I hope you had some fun celebrating this special day. I’ve been thinking about you all a lot lately. I was going send a note to your mom, so I’m glad to see this post. I very much understand being sad.
Yes, geese are very messy!
Ernie! DUDE! 13 years! What an accomplishment! Mom and me were really sad about Wally, and I am sorry I did not come by sooner. Queen Nellie says he’s a great man cat to have around. She told me she has always thought he was the purrfect man cat ….I should be more like him when I grow up….
I hope you got some cool treats for your Gottcha day.
Purrs

Even in the midst of sadness, there is sometimes something good to recall. You are one lucky cat, Ernie. It’s funny, but I think that after my Tungsten died, Tucker became more vocal. I’m not sure if he felt he had to, or simply could.
Despite being on hiatus from blogging, I had to stop by to wish our book contributor, Ernie a happy Gotcha Day. Grieving is hard on cats and while they move through it a little faster than most humans, they go through many of the same emotions. Plus adjusting to a move is a big deal. Gentle purrs coming your way xo
Happy Gotcha Day to you our dear friend Ernie! That’s awesome that you had those big birdies come on by on your special day. We send you lots of purrs as you navigate your new world without your buddy. Lots of love to you all.
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie. Maybe you’re telling the Lady that you’re lonely?
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie! I see that you have some cool neighbors on your new house!
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie! Those look like some interesting visitors. But yes, quite messy!
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie!
Purrs xx

Happy Gotcha Day Ernie!
Happy belated Gotcha Day, Ernie, you beautiful creature. I sure like the combo of you and that blanket. Hoping you will be feeling better soon! Now don’t go trying to chase and eat any of those geese!
Happy Gotcha Day, Ernie! Hope you had a good day. Try picturing those geese as dinner. Yum. May be if you take Zoey a treat now and then, she will associate you with something good.
We are glad that Wally got to see the new home, so his spirit will feel at home there. Comforting purrs.
Happy Belated 13th Birthday! We have been thinking about you and sending lots of light and support your way.
Happy Gotcha Day! I’m glad that y’all are doing okay. It take some time to adjust to a different family dynamics but I imagine you are talking more now that you have a chance. Haha! Take care of each other.
Happy Gotcha Day Ernie!
It looks as though you have very good bird t.v. indeed in your new pad!
We are certain Wally drops by once in a while and enjoys the view with you. XO
Love and hugs to your Mom.

Happy belated gotcha day, Ernie. We’re sorry we’re late! We’ve been thinking about you and your family a lot. Big hugs and love to you all.
There are events that should always be recognized, and Gothcha Days are one of them. Happy Gotcha Day!
I’m sorry we’re so late to comment, Ernie! We hope your Gotcha Day was filled with lots of snuggles and treats. We’re certain it was. We are keeping all of you in our purrs and prayers!

Happy belated Gotcha Day! You are so sweet
Oh dear, I’m afraid I’m a little late too. Happy Belated Gotcha Day dear Ernie. We’re glad to see y’all back, and we know just how you feel. It sucks to be knocked for a loop when you lose someone you love so much. It takes time to heal, and we know you never really get over it. You’re right, Wally surely is watching over you. Dad says sometimes that Orbit’s watching over us, but I don’t see him. This is MY place now. Take care, and it’s good to see you getting back to blogging. Our best to you.
Ernie, please forgive us for being late to you Gotcha Day. Our mom is so super busy, we are surprised she even gets any posts written for us. We cannot believe you are 13…you sure don’t look it. We know you all miss Wally, as we and all his friends do. That’s quite some bird TV you have, but we know those guys can make a huge mess. We hope you will start blogging a bit more regularly. Sending best wishes for many more Gotcha Days. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
We’re sorry we’re so late, Ernie, please forgive us. Happy belated Gotcha Day ! We’re glad to see you back to blogging. Purrs
