Feb 202019

Hello everyone. It’s the Island Cat Mom. As most of you may have heard, on Monday afternoon Wally left this world and is now at the Rainbow Bridge.

Over the past few years Wally had his health issues, first with a severe pancreatitis attack that resulted in a hospital stay and a feeding tube. He also had a mild heart problem and early stage kidney disease. About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and since that time his kidneys worsen no matter what we did to try and slow the progression. Through all of this, Wally always remained a trooper…putting up with many vet visits and me worrying about him, and taking his various medications.

Late last week, his kidney values were off the chart, he was not doing well, and the sad decision to let him go was made. This all happened so fast…much faster than I ever imagined.

Thank you for all your kind words of condolence…it warms my heart that Wally brought all of you as much joy as he brought me. I will miss my orange boy SO much. He was one in a million.

Thank you, Ann, for this lovely graphic.

If love could have saved you…
you would have lived forever.

We’ll be taking a break from blogging…at least for awhile so we can cope with this tremendous loss and find our new normal.

  1. I have just heard, and so very sorry for your loss. Wally was a great guy, and through his ails, he has held strong and his love never diminished. May the world he now goes to bring him as much love and delight as the world he has just left. And may your love and memories hold you strong at this, the saddest of times.

  20. I am so very sorry to hear about Wally. He was such a special cat. Thyroid and Kidney issues are hard to manage together. Sounds like he crashed the same way Smokey did a few years back. I will be sending comforting purrs to you all as you adjust and find a new normal. I will be thinking especially about Ernie, as he adjusts to life without his bestie. {HUGS} to you all.

  21. My heart is sad for your loss. Your gang have always been big supporters of us, especially when our Tucker went missing and then later died. Sending you lots of love. Please take care of yourself.

  31. Wally, Ernie and Zoe were some of Angel Madi’s first feline friends.
Madi always coveted their window seat. I send hugs and purrs to you at your loss of Wall and his big purrsonality. I’ll always think of Wally on Wednesday…and wonder what he is doing.
I expect he has found the purrfect window at the rainbow bridge and has invited all the angels to join him there.
    Hugs Cecilia

  32. I’m so sorry Sue, I know how hard it is. Keeping you in my thoughts.

  33. It’s so hard to see them sick. We know. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

I put Wally’s graphic in my Angles in my navigation bar.

    Big healing hugs. ♥

  34. You take all the time you need – we know the feeling. Even though we know that something will happen eventually, when the time comes it still doesn’t seem possible it’s happening. We know how hard it is to come to that realization and be able to be brave enough to say goodbye. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

    Love, Pam (and Teddy)

  35. This is such sorrowful news. I haven’t been able to keep up with the blogs I follow, and didn’t know that Wally’s condition had worsened. Please accept my condolences. Wally was clearly loved and he loved in return. Nothing can ever change that. Godspeed, Wally.

  36. Sweet Wally, you are one of our favorite orange boys and we’ll miss seeing you every Wednesday. Now when we ask ourselves Where in the World is Wally? We know he’s chasing nip bananas and wand toys with the angels.

  41. You know how saddened we are that Wally got his wings. We know many good friends were at the Rainbow Bridge to greet him, and we know that we will all be together again, but that does not ease the pain. All ginger boys are special, but Wally was a trooper and brought joy to so many. Know that you are in our prayers as you grieve. Love and hugs, Janet, Tom and Kitties Blue
