Hi everyone. Island Cat Mom here…once again taking over the blog from the cats.
Well, another BlogPaws conference has come and gone. This year’s conference was held in Kansas City, MO, and was the 10th one…quite an achievement for conferences like these. It was the 6th one that I’ve attended.
Why do I like going to the BlogPaws conference? Sure, there’s things to learn, great speakers to inspire, and brand representatives to meet…but most of all I love the opportunity to get together with other pet bloggers…like-minded animal loving people.
I thought I’d share with all of you some photos I took while at BlogPaws this year to give you the flavor of what it was like being there.
Vendors, Sponsors, and Having Some Fun
There were lots of vendors and sponsors to connect with. It was fun to see new pet products that are or will be available.
This year, there were some “experiential areas” where we could hang out…a patio, a living room, an office, and a kitchen.
This was the pool on the patio…complete with unicorn float. No, I did not get into the pool…but some dogs did.
There were lots of cool things to do in the Exhibit Hall.
Here I am hamming it up at the Merrick Kissing Booth.
Dawn from Lola the Rescued Cat and I had some fun while helping #HaloFeedItForward. For every Instagram post tagged with the hashtag #HaloFeedItForward, Halo Pet Foods donated food to shelter pets. How cool is that?!? I love companies that give back.
The crazy Meowijuana Cat. I think this guy needs to lay off the nip!
Even the vendors had a good time with the animals. The Weruva rep got down with Louie the French bull dog for some playtime.
The Cat Lounge
One of my favorite things at BlogPaws is the Cat Lounge. This year’s Cat Lounge was a little smaller than previous years. That’s because Kate Benjamin from Hauspanther who usually oversees the lounge was not able to attend due to some health issues. But Kate wanted the lounge to be there, so a group of cat bloggers and others volunteered to set up and manage it.
On display were all the latest trends in cat-related products both for cats and their humans.
The Cat Bloggers
As I mentioned before, the BEST part of the BlogPaws conference…at least for me…is getting together with other pet bloggers…and particular my fellow cat bloggers…people who I have come to know through blogging and now call friends.
There were many other cat bloggers there…unfortunately, I didn’t get photos of everyone. As my cats would say, I was too busy kibitizing to take photos. I wish we all could have spent more time together. Three days just isn’t enough.
And The Cats
It seems like more and more cats come to BlogPaws every year. This year was the most I’ve ever seen. I wish Wally, Ernie and Zoey were better travelers. It would be nice to bring one of them with me. But having cats there is great because for the few days I’m there, I don’t go through kitty withdrawal.
Here’re some of the cats attending this year…you may recognize a few of them!
This is Cupcake. I met her at last year’s BlogPaws when she was a kitten and known as Dior. She made such an impression on Julie from Cats Herd You that Julie adopted her. And now Julie brought Cupcake to her second BlogPaws.
Also there was Cupcake’s sister, Chanel from Random Felines.
The Adventure Cat, Kylo Ren from Kitty Cat Chronicles was there. This too was his second BlogPaws.
This pretty girl is Pumpkin. It was a real pleasure meeting her.
Once again the best dressed award at the conference went to Coco, the Couture Cat. Coming in at a close second was Summer.
This was Dori’s, from Wonderpurr, first BlogPaws. I heard she didn’t handle it so well, and was doing most of her conference reports from under the hotel room bed. I was glad she came out from under for a little while so I could get to meet her.
Handsome Samson was there again. I first met Samson at the Phoenix conference when he was just a kitten. He is one cool cat.
Jeanne from Random Felines usually brings kittens with her to BlogPaws. But since she brought Chanel this year instead, I was afraid this conference would be kitten-less. But I was so wrong. There were lots of kittens including these two cuties, Stormie and Smudge. Aren’t they adorable?
Oh there were lots of dogs there too. I realized after I got home how few pictures I took of dogs…practically none!
Having my blog selected as a finalist for a Nose-to-Nose Award as Best Cat Blog was quite the honor. I totally wasn’t expecting it.
I was in good company walking the Red Carpet before the awards banquet. All the cat blogger finalists that were there took a group photo. I’m proud to be standing with such talented women!

This was my second time being a finalist, the last time was in 2015 at the Nashville conference. I didn’t win…but that’s okay. Being recognized as a finalist makes me feel like a winner. Congratulations to Chirpy Cats for winning the Best Cat Blog category this year. It is very well deserved.
My Final Thoughts
This year’s BlogPaws conference was a bittersweet one. As some of you may have heard, Chewy.com has acquired BlogPaws and is taking over running it. Most of the BlogPaws team that we have grown to love and call friends have all moved on to other opportunities. Change is difficult. I know I don’t like a lot of change. My own blogging experience has grown with BlogPaws. Chewy plans to continue the BlogPaws community, including the conference. There’s even some talk about having smaller, regional conferences several times during the year. I’m keeping an open mind as to what they will do. Hopefully, BlogPaws will continue on as is…or get even better.
Next year’s annual conference will be held in Florida. The exact location and dates haven’t been announced yet…the details are still being worked out. But Chewy promises to let us know soon…because I, for one, can’t wait to go again!
