Hey guys! Ernie here.  Y’know…we haven’t featured the garden center cats, Chip and Slim, lately…so today I thought I’d let you know what they’ve been doing. Now that it’s spring…though it sure is taking its sweet ol’ time showing itself if you ask me…there’s been a lot of activity going on at the garden center getting ready for spring and summer…the busiest time of the year. New merchandise and even some plants are arriving daily. And I hear Chip and Slim are right there…in on all the action.

Slim makes sure the merchandise is stacked properly

Here’s Slim making sure the grass seed and fertilizer are stacked and properly displayed for optimal selling purrformance.

Chip wants to sell you some straw

Chip wants to know if you need any straw. He’s got lots of it to sell!

Chip is sleeping on the job

Uh oh! Looks like he’s sleeping on the job. But I don’t blame him…that pile of straw is the purrfect spot for a catnap. I sure hope the boss doesn’t see him though.

Lunch time!

Lunch break! All that hard work…and napping…I bet they really worked up an appetite.

After lunch they head outside to help out in the nursery.

Chip is learning to drive the loader

Chip has been learning to drive the loader. He says the hardest part is reaching the steering wheel and the pedals at the same time.

Slim checks out the cart

Slim checks the carts to make sure they’re in proper working order. No one likes a squeaky wheel.

Time for a rest after all that hard work

And after a long, hard day of work, it’s time to sit back and relax. With these two on the job, I know the garden center will be in tip top shape for the upcoming spring and summer seasons. Now if only the weather would start cooperating…

  40. You are two hard-working cats! Take care, little ones.

  41. What a GREAT blog today. Those kitties are too adorable, but what is a tackifier to hold down straw? Mama used to use straw (NOT seed-studded hay) for mulch and it works wonders for a garden. Now she uses straw, too, but a composted kind that’s lightweight so she can lift the big bags. LOVE those kitties.

  42. Real hard-working guys! Hope you all are well-paid and loved! Purrs! 🙂
