Hi guys. Wally here…along with Ernie. Now that the weather has changed and the temperatures are getting cooler, we’ve been seeking out warm, cozy napping spots. You can never have enough of them…right, Ernie?
You got that right, Wally. That’s why when we got the new Petmate® Jackson Galaxy™ Kitty Zip Mat to try out, I said to myself, “Cool! Another napping spot for us to fight over.”
C’mon, Ernie. We don’t fight over napping spots. Well, not much at least. But it is important to have lots of comfy spots available for us cats.
Y’know, we’ve reviewed some of the other Jackson Galaxy cat products in the past and always found them to be great quality products designed around those things that come naturally to us cats…hunting, catching, killing, eating, grooming and sleeping. Remember the Comfy Clamshell? That’s still a popular napping spot for us…so much so that sometimes we do fight over who gets to sleep on it. But now we have the Kitty Zip Mat so maybe there won’t be as many squabbles.
The Kitty Zip Mat is a comfy and cozy mat that can be converted into a tunnel. As a mat, it measures 36 inches by 22 inches which, when lying flat, provides a whole lotta lounging space for a big mancat like me.
The fabric is plush and soft…great for biscuit-making. It’s reversible, too. The other side includes a layer of mylar fabric that reflects a cat’s own body heat and makes the mat self-warming. It’s machine washable so no worries if a hairball or two gets yakked on it.
The mat converts to a tunnel with the use of a heavy-duty zipper. As a tunnel, it provides us cats with a fun but comfy hiding spot…purrfect for getting away from it all. It appeals to our nature to burrow and hide, but it’s opened on both ends for an easy escape if needed.
We found that we used the Kitty Zip Mat mostly when it was a mat and not as a tunnel. We’re more loungers than hiders. Ernie even uses it as a mat when it’s converted to a tunnel. He’s kinda strange like that.
We give the Kitty Zip Mat paws up! It’s purrfect whether your cat is a lounger or a hider…or both. And y’know…we bet even small dogs would like it, too. Between the Kitty Zip Mat and the Comfy Clamshell, we’re all set to be warm and cozy during the cold winter months ahead.

We are both! We could really put this very cool Kitty Zip Mat to good use here in Chicago with winter coming up!
My cat is mainly a lounger now she’s 11 but when she was a kitten she was both. Love to win this for my cat so she can keep warm this Winter which will be in a few months. I hope I win cause it looks comfy.
I think we would be more loungers too…since we are all big cats, the tunnel may be too small.
It’s opened on both ends and is pretty large…a big cat could fit in it comfortably.
We all like to both lounge and hide around here, so this seems like the purrfect kind of mat to us! And you two are such adorable models for it, Wally and Ernie!

We have three cats. The oldest, Moko, is definitely a lounger. Four-year-old Arata is a hider. Baby Kotoha, who just turned one this summer, is a little of each although I’d have to say a little more a lounger than hider. They’d love this!
My cat is both a lounger and a hider! Usually she is a lounger when she and I are alone, then she hides when company comes over.

I think Princess and TJ are both loungers, though TJ likes to become a lumpy periodically.

Samantha does both lounging and hiding, depending on her mood. In fact, sometimes she hides so well we can’t even find her!

Wow, that is the coolest bed! We’ve got loungers over here, but if the vacuum comes out, then we have a couple of hiders.
My one cat is a hider because he’s difficult to locate in my house and my other is lounger he’s always on a comfy area! Haha!
