Hi guys. I was napping here on my red blanket taking advantage of the extra hour of sleep we got last night because we turned the clocks back, when the mom reminded me that I needed to take a selfie for today. So I quickly snapped this one. Check it out…I didn’t even bother to lift my head! It’s a lazy selfie!
Wally came home yesterday…but he’s still not eating on his own…so he has this tube-thingy in his neck where the mom has to squirt food into. It’s covered with a wide collar but it still looks kinda strange to me. He has a bunch of medicines to take, too. I haven’t gotten real close to him yet, but I bet he smells like the vet. I just want him to feel better.
We’re going to take a little break from blogging so that the mom can focus on getting Wally well again. If you’re on Facebook, you might see some Wally updates there. Please continue to send him purrs, prayers and good thoughts. We really appreciate it.

We are purring and praying for Wally. Dad, the nursey man, says that pancreatitis responds to letting the organ rest and keeping good nutrition coming in. That tube feeding will help. I forget the fellow who I think Savvy was taking care of a year or two ago and then he finally got his forever home after a month or two of feedings and getting better.

We’re glad Wally is home! As you know, Carmine has been dealing with pancreatitis for over a year, so please don’t hesitate to ask questions of our mom if you have any.
I don’t know about Wally, but Carmine would *never* eat at the vet’s office. They always offer him food after his dental, and he refuses to eat. Even Lita who LOVES to eat won’t eat much at the vet’s after dental surgeries. Maybe now that Wally’s home, he will start to eat on his own.
We are continuing to send purrs and prayers and hugs and love. We know what a confusing and frustrating struggle this disease is.
What a purrfect selfie, Ernie, you handsome boy! And we are sending lots and lots of purrs and prayers to Wally! We are sorry to hear that he is not eating on his own, but are so very glad to hear that is home now. Please take all the time off that you need. We certainly will not fault you for it, but we will be thinking about all of you the entire time.
When my angel Rosie was almost 20 she developed pancreatitis. She didn’t eat on her own for a couple of weeks. Because she was so frail we opted to syringe feed her rather than put her under to have a feeding tube put in. After weeks of syringe feeding, she one day just decided to start eating again. We were thrilled, and after a couple more weeks she was back to her completely normal self. Purrs and prayers that Wally starts eating on his own again very soon, and that his recovery is a speedy one!
Also, just a quick question. I hope your mom doesn’t mind my asking, Ernie and Wally. Are you all by any chance on a duck or other similar diet? I used to work at a cat clinic, and we had a number of cats end up with pancreatitis and/or diabetes after being on a duck diet for an extended period of time. Duck and other similar diets can be quite fatty, which can mess with the pancreas. I hope you don’t mind my asking, I just know that you have a tendency for allergies and dermatitis, Ernie, and that duck or other similar formulas are often used in such cases. There’s certainly no blame in this, I just felt compelled to ask.
