Ernie #RememberMeThursday #RememberTheRescue

Hey guys. Ernie here. Today is Remember Me Thursday®…a day to shine a light on those orphan pets in shelters and rescues who are waiting for their forever homes…and also to remember those that sadly never made it out. Started by the Helen Woodward Animal Center, Remember Me Thursday® is a day to get the entire world talking about pet adoption.

Y’know…I was a shelter cat. I know what it’s like being stuck in a cage day after day…lemme tell you, it’s not fun. Oh yeah, it’s better than being on the streets fending for yourself, but it’s nothing like having a forever home. I was one of the lucky ones. I found my forever home. But there’re still so many wonderful animals sitting in shelters waiting for their forever homes.

Jordan, Comet, Kiana #RememberMeThursday #RememberTheRescue

Like these guys…they’re all at the Wyandotte Animal Adoption Center…the shelter the mom volunteers with. Jordan, Comet and Kiana…along with many other great cats and dogs…have been at the shelter far too long waiting for their forever homes.

What can you do to support Remember Me Thursday® and cats like Jordan, Comet and Kiana*? Adopting a shelter pet would be the best way. Yeah, we know that’s not something everyone can do. But you can spread the word about the importance of pet adoptions. Today, tweet, tag, post and share on social media the life-saving significance of pet adoption. Make sure you use the hashtags #RememberTheRescue and #RememberMeThursday. Let’s honor the lost pets whose time ran out and bring awareness to the pets we can still help.

#RememberMeThursday #RememberTheRescue

And by doing so, you can enter a cool contest that RememberMeThursday.org is having. Now through September 30, when you post a photo of your rescued or adopted pet on Twitter or Instagram and use both hashtags #RememberMeThursday and #RememberTheRescue, you could win $2000 for your favorite shelter or rescue. You can learn more about the contest HERE.

So c’mon! Let’s get the entire world talking about pet adoption and shine a light on all orphan pets waiting in shelters and rescues right now! With all of our collective voices, we CAN make a difference!

*If anyone is interested in adopting Jordan, Comet or Kiana, please let us know!

  1. What a great idea…. I wish every animal who needs a home could be rescued…

  2. WE sure hope that all the animals in the shelters can get adopted. We are so thankful for all the shelters that do the best that they can in finding homes for all the homeless animals.

  3. What a wonderful post for #RememberMeThursday, Ernie! You sure hit the jackpot the day your mom and dad took you home. And it is so sweet of you to now spread the word to help other shelter and rescue animals find forever homes like you did. Thank you for sharing this, and for sharing Jordan, Comet, and Kiana with us! We are purring that their forever homes come for them sooner than soon!

  4. What a wonderful post. I was one of those kitties stuck in a cage too – not fun!! We have a lot to be thankful for.

  5. i had to stop looking at the website for the shelter where i adopted all three of the boyz. i found myself wanting to adopt all the cats…

  6. That so many cats never have homes makes me so sad. Bear was homeless when we met. Over the last 10 years, he’s saved my life every single day … I can’t imagine my life without him. And yet, when I found him, most people would’ve considered him a nuisance and unwanted. Every life matters … EVERY SINGLE ONE. For each cat that is killed because there isn’t a home, we lose out on that potential … the potential to make the world and humanity better.

  7. Adopt, Don’t Shop!

  33. Well, a really good post. And I was an orphan cat, or rather, my mama and papa were orphans until they found ME. Or rather, I found THEM. We were all so lucky to have found one another. Mama thinks about it daily and wishes all orphans could find a good, loving home.

  34. […] have some good news to share! Remember our #RememberMeThursday post from a couple of weeks ago? We featured a few of the cats from the Wyandotte Animal Adoption […]
