I like laying on the table

I’m a table-layer…that’s right, I am. And I make no apologies for it. I like laying on the table. The smooth surface is nice and cool, and there’s lots of room for me to stretch out.

The mom gave up a long time ago trying to keep me off of here. Now she has one rule…no table-laying when there’s food on it. That’s a rule I can live with…most of the time!

How ’bout you? Are you a table-layer, too?

  1. Lots of us like lay on the tables or book cases or what ever. We love the smooth surface and it is cooler. So you aren’t the only one Wally. You all have a great day.

  2. We’re so proud that you totally own your layer-ness. We don’t actually HAVE a table to take ownership of, but Mom says it’s arriving soon.

  3. we don’t have a table like that….but you look comfy

  4. There’s nothing as good as lolling about over the table in case you find crumbs.

  5. Yes we are! Our dad works from home and the ‘no table’ rule quickly flew out the window faster than Da Bird! 🙂
Our mum has tried clicker training to keep us off and it worked but dad let’s us do unspeakable things in her absence!

  6. Wally I LOVE to sprawl on the table! So did Admiral!

  7. Wally, the table is one of the bestest places to lay fur sure.

  8. You look very comfortable on the table! We prefer to lay where it is warm or soft, so no tables for us! We do like to sit on desks, just in front of our mom or dad though!

  9. Allie is but Raz and Ellie don’t really bother with the table. You look very comfy!!

    The Florida Furkids

  10. Wally, you look so comfy! Angel and Chuck go everywhere, except the counters. If we have guests, then cats cannot be on the table, but they run and hide anyhow.

  11. TKS likes to lay on the table runner when Mom and Dad are eating. She is allowed as long as she keeps her nose outta their foods and her tail away from the candle!!

  12. Oh, Wally, I am not allowed on the table, ever. But I did get up there once when they weren’t looking.
    I think.
Maybe it was the kitchen counter. Yeah, that was it. They left the butter out….

  13. Wally, our humans gave up long ago as well. The rule has always been no paws on the placemats, but we push our luck with that rule all the time. Astrid even has a bed on the dining room table. When the kitties outnumber the humans, we are in control. Wally, you look as if you are getting ready to attack something. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  14. Theo is our table layer. He dreams of food all the time.

  15. We bet the table is a nice cool place to nap if it’s too hot anywhere else 🙂

  16. Mom learned a long time ago to cover up the dining room table because there was no way she was going to keep us off it.

  17. I pretty much go where I want, but mum saws paws off the table while she is eating.

  18. Have fun Wally!!! The table looks like the best place to lay on. We love that smooth surface too especially when it’s so hot outside.

  19. We are not allowed on the tables, but we can have the counters. That’s the settlement we agreed on.

  20. We’re table walkers, but we never really lay on top of it, for some reason. You do look pretty comfy, though, Wally … we may have to give it a try. 🙂

  21. Wally, my cat is a table-layer too 🙂
No matter how much I try I can’t get him away from the table.

  22. You are such a cutie. I have a lot of table kitties too.

  23. Our table usually has a cat on it too

  24. Wally I am Madi and I too am a T.L. and sometimes I’m one when there is food….there I said it out loud too!
Mom’s theory is a cat is a cat and it will go where it pleases either in front of you or behind your back.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  25. Wally, looks like you found a nice place for a snooze, especially if there am a sunshine beam nearby…

    -Katie Kat

  26. Bear will lay on just about anything … I don’t understand why he prefers a wood table to the bed or his cat tree, but I guess if Bear started making sense, I’d be confused 🙂

  27. Yes, we have a table-layer or two around here!

  28. What? Who thinks you’re not supposed to lay there? What a silly notion!

  29. Yes, we both are table-layers. And Claire and Momo have the same rule as your mom : no cat on the table when food is on it. Purrs

  30. I am a table guy too Wally!

  31. dood….ewe betcha we iz…spesh a lee me….tuna……eye total lee agreez; itz nice & kewl in hotz

  32. Whoa! That looks like our table but The Mom trusts you and doesn’t have it covered with 6 layers of tablecloth. Oh, TW says it’s THEM she doesn’t trust. I can go up whenever I want even if there’s food no NOT if they have company.

  33. We had the same rule when we had cats.

  34. Yes! All day, Wally!
    ~Pierrot

The lady says you’re cute up there!

  35. Us…table layers? Not likely….we don’t need to cool down. It’s cool enough. Occasionally we lay across the coffee table in the living room. That’s it. We like our rugs on the floor and beds.

    Shoko

  36. I have never tried to get on the table or work tops. I prefer my cat tree. Eric used to sneak up to sunbathe when he thought no-one was looking.

  37. Yep! Mudpie is a table kitty too! She gets dirty looks from her grandpa when he catches her up there but I don’t really care 🙂

  38. Smooth cool surfaces are the best! They make for happy cats.
    Have a super Wednesday…

    Noodle and crew

  39. We have a couple of table layers and they both are gold. Imagine that.

  40. You are so cute, Wally! I think that if we had a kitchen table, Manna and Dexter would be table-layers too. I know they enjoy laying on the counters. 🙂

  41. Mes used to bes a table layer…for the same reasons,
But now, mes mostly a heating pad on the bed layer these days…
now that mes old, mes not interested in anything but eating, pooping, my heating pad treats and cuddles with Mommy.
    Kisses
    Nellie

  42. Are you pre-positioning yourself for the next meal being served?

  43. Saku likes to hang out on the table too. It didn’t make mom bean happy ‘cuz he scratched the surface so now there is table cloth on it. It makes it even more comfortable!

    Enjoy Wally!

  44. oh yeah I am a table layer from way back! Mom has embarrassed me more than once by blogging about it too! She has the same rule as your Mom! But….at dinnertime (when we don’t have company), I am a “table sitter” even when there IS food on the table! Love, Cody

  45. mol! Wally, we are table sitters. ours is too small and has too much of mom’s junk on it for laying. We have a similar rule of no sitting if mom is eating there. when we break it or at least get too close to the food, we get the heave-ho 😀
you know, we think you’d make a nicer center piece than that fruit basket…just sayin…

pip, smidgen, minnie, hollie, sharpie, ditto

  46. You’re doing a great job of table-laying, too!

  47. Minko is not only a table layer, he is a table hogger!! Pipo sometimes checks it out, too. Our angel-furbling Groucho was also a table layer. They say that since its by a south window, they need to get into the sunpuddles when they are warming the table cloth, else the sunbeams will go to waste.
And that reminds the petcretary: she has to remember to check for stray furs and kitty litter…don’t need those in the meals the peeps eat…but then we are all about sharing, MOL!

  48. Yes! My favorite table is mom’s work table!!

  49. Look at you up there, Wally! That sure does look like a nice and cool place to relax. This human here also gave up on any “no table” and “no counter” and “no desk” (and pretty much any “no” rules) for the kitties in the house. That being said, the primary table layer in our house is Thimble. Except, this energetic little lady loves being up there so much that she isn’t so much of a table layer as a table dancer…

  50. Mee-you Wally mee wood bee if there was a tabull that big to lay on!! Mee iss a floor layer like you…
LadyMum callss that pose “furry werm”……mew mew mew….
    **nose bumpsss** Siddhartha Henry xxxx

  51. I’m not a table layer, Wally, but I am at Granny’s feet 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Day 🙂 <3

  52. MOL Well Wally dat seems like a good rule. We’s not table layers and da table was always an off limits area till mommy had her furst major surgery. But Raena and me don’t really care one way or da other.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

  53. We have the same rule at our house. I’m not allowed on the table or counters when they’re eating or cooking.

  54. That’s a perfect example of a cat loaf. And one really does need a hard surface in order to perfect this pose. Popoki uses my desk (even when I am also using it). What can you do?

Jean from Welcome to the Menagerie

  55. You silly boy, Wally! We have the same rule in our house – no table or counter sitting when there is food out. Sam has never cared about the table though; not for a long time anyway. I do remember a time I tried to put a tablecloth on it, and had to stop because someone would jump up there and slide the whole thing right across – crash!

  56. TOTES. TO-TA-LEE!!

  57. Table surfing again Wally? Can’t blame you……it’s a nice cool spot!

    Hugs, Sammy
