Hi everybuddy. Wally here. Today I wanna tell you about a new food we tried as part of the Chewy.com Blogger Outreach program. It’s Whole Earth Farms™ grain free canned cat food.
We’ve never heard of this brand of cat food before. So, the mom went to the Whole Earth Farms™ website to find out more about it. Whole Earth Farms™ pet foods are part of the Merrick Pet Care, Inc. company. Merrick Pet Care, Inc. is known for its great quality pet foods. Whole Earth Farms™ is a wholesome line of naturally nutritious pet foods that offer all the goodness from the earth at an affordable price.
Whole Earth Farms™ pet foods are:
- Naturally nutritious made with high quality protein
- Cooked in the USA with the earth’s best ingredients
- Made with no ingredients from China and do not include any corn, wheat, by-products, artificial colors or preservatives
- Very affordable
This all sounded great to the mom, so we asked to try the Whole Earth Farms™ grain free real duck recipe canned food. It also comes in chicken, turkey, beef, salmon and tuna & whitefish recipes.
You can see that it’s a pate food which is what we prefer.
Here are the ingredients of the duck recipe: Duck, Chicken Broth, Chicken, Chicken Liver, Dried Egg Product, Natural Flavor, Calcium Carbonate, Organic Dried Alfalfa Meal, Sodium Phosphate, Guar Gum, Agar Gum, Flaxseed, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Niacin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate), Potassium Chloride, Salt, Salmon Oil, Choline Chloride, Minerals (Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Iron Amino Acid Complex, Manganese Amino Acid Complex, Copper Amino Acid Complex, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Glucoheptonate, Sodium Selenite), Locust Bean Gum, Xanthan Gum, Taurine, Yucca Schidigera Extract.
Sheesh…I don’t even know what most of that stuff is. But duck is the first ingredient…so that’s good with me!
So, how did we like the Whole Earth Farms™ grain free real duck recipe?
Well, it was okay…we each gave it 2-paws up. All of us ate it…but not as enthusiastically as we eat some of our other foods. We even left a little bit in our dishes. Maybe it was the duck flavor that we didn’t like as much. Lately, the mom has been mixing it up with us, feeding us proteins other than chicken with limited success. We may try the chicken flavor to see if we like it any better.
If you’d like to try the Whole Earth Farms™ grain free canned cat food, visit Chewy.com for more information and to order. Right now, all the Whole Earth Farms™ pet foods are on sale.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
with Yucca Schidigera Extract it’s gotta be delicious.
What caught our attention was the word “duck”! Looks mighty delish! Great review!
That’s sounds really good.
We get Newman’s Own 2nd Gen grain free canned food. Also get Innova Evo 95% chicken canned food but the Evo food has gone up so much, Giant Lady said, once this runs out… that’s it, no more of that. Is now running $60.00 a 24 can case.
So, Giant Lady might takes a look at the food you are reviewing. She likes to feed us a couple different types of food.

Wally, I cannot get any cat around here to eat duck anymore. They used to like it as a secondary flavor, but once the vet person said ‘only venison’ for Chuck, we got away from duck. I ordered some recently (from Chewy.com!) and the ‘o’ cats refused to eat it! However, Merrick does have a good reputation, so I’ll keep this new food in mind in case we have to make any changes. Thanks for the review!
We got some of that to try out too but Mommy hasn’t opened a can yet!!! –Mudpie
Note from Mommy: I’ve had most duck food rejected too…
Great review, Wally! My kitties can be picky about new flavors and proteins as well. I also chose a duck formula moist food (of a different brand, though) for our kitty Chewy review this month, and will be trying it out with them in the next couple of days. I’m curious if they’ll have the same thoughts as you all did about your food. Thanks for sharing this review with us! Purrs!
Great review, we appreciate your honesty. I usually avoid duck because when we tried it, they got diarrhea.
We were impressed with this food when we saw it in the offerings. Glad to hear you liked it too
Hey, if Aunt Connie is impressed ….!!!
You know we both don’t care for pate. Mom is frustrated feeding us because we like texture.
This food comes in chunks with gravy, too. You should check it out!
Bear doesn’t like pate either … but he’ll dig the chunks (AND gravy) … for him, it’d be GRAVY (and chunks) 🙂 A couple times I accidentally got pate and I found that if you cut it up in chunk size pieces and add a little water to make “gravy,” it’s not impossible to fool him 🙂
Hi, Wally–thank you for doing the review! The food does sound well made. I’ve been sticking to mostly one brand of the grain free. But it’s good to know that this is out there. My kitties prefer the pate too–if it’s chunky, they tend to leave a lot of the chunks behind. By the way, you have the sweetest little head–I just want to reach out and pet you! 🙂
Thanks for the review! I thought about choosing this but I went with treats instead. I’ll have to tell Mother to get us some.
Love,
Lexy
Dragonheart has food allergies, so we tend to avoid chicken. We’ve had duck in the past, but mostly stick to venison!
Nice review and it pretty much covers what we are finding out during our test period for Chewy.com. Sunshine the Cat likes it but does not love it. And the truth is, the food is making her throw up every day and we are not sure why. She has gone a long time without throwing up. So I think most of the food is going to the shelter close by and she’ll go back to her tried and true favorites.
Love Noodles
That was such a great review.. Glad to find out about it since I have been looking into grain free food for Ohs, since he has diarrhea all the time and the grain free seems to help him. Course getting that special food to him with 20 others, is not easy.
We eat this sometimes – it’s okay, we’re not picky! We eat pretty much anything my human puts in front of us.
Hmmm, duck. We don’t know what that tastes like but we like to see them fly over our house sometimes and hey, if it flies, we think we’d like to eat it! Good review. Our Mom particularly liked that ingredients list and thanks you for including that!
dood…..18 centz anda sack oh friez sayz yea, it waz de varietee…..we vote for salmon beef & whitefish !!!! thanx for de honest ree view anda happee monday ♥♥♥☺☺☺
We have never really liked the taste of duck either Wally. Sometimes it’s not what it’s quacked up to be!
We like duck in some foods but not always. Our mom likes switching up our proteins too and trying new things.
We have never tried that, so thanks for the review. Mixing things up isn’t bad. The head peep worries about what happens if there’s a shortage on what we usually eat and we have to have our food switched,. Mixing things up means you’re going to be more adaptable… at least in theory!
Sorry it didn’t float your boats Wally. We got dat food in da bits and gravy cuz we don’t like pate. So far, we’s not impurressed either. Mommy says it may have somethin’ to do with da fact dat Purina now owns Merrick and things may not be as kosher as we’d like to think. Anyways, fanks fur da review.
Luv ya’

great review! it is always nice to see what other kitties think of different food stuffs. we have had this and the chick-hen flavor pates and like them but our mom was turned off when on more than one occasion the contents in the can was less than the 5 or 5.5 ounces it was supposed to be. we thought it was a good food for the amount of green papers. chick-hen and turkey are our go-to proteins tho MInnie and the boycats will proly eat anything 😀
pip, smidgen, minnie, hollie, sharpie, ditto
We like that you were so honest in your review, wally. Maybe it was the Yucca Schidigera Extract you didn’t care for? 😉
Aaaaawwwww sorry it didn’t hit the spot 100%, but it still sounds really delish guys, if there’s any left I’ll pop over! MOL

Basil xox
Thanks for the review! Can’t win ’em all, I guess! But sounds like you liked it enough.
Darn it, we were thinking about testing some, but then we saw the salmon oil.. sigh, no fishies for us unfortunately. Hope you have better luck with the chicken flavor!
Grain free is the way to go. 🙂
That sounds a very good food!
My boys are not so enthusiastic about duck, either. Maybe you’ll like chicken 🙂
I like to see you eating it, Wally, but with my pickiness I think I stick with my tuna…for now 😉 Pawkisses 🙂 <3
We have tried some duck…but it was put in the reject department, and Minko even tried to cover it up, MOL!!
At least you tried to eat some of it.
Mes LOVES duck! Especially the peking duck Mommy brings home once in a blue moon and mes LOVES duck treats…mes thinks mes might like that..but wes can’t get that brand here, mes gots it on Mommy’s list for her next trip over the border.
Thanks for the review!
Kisses
Nellie
I almost picked this but I’m happy with what I did get. I’m not much on patés. Great review.
