What's this thing?

What’s this thing, Ernie?

It’s the PetSafe SlimCat™ interactive feeder, Wally.  Chewy.com sent it to us to check out so we can tell everybuddy what we think of it.

How does it work?

Well, Wally, the mom puts some of our dry food into the SlimCat™ and then we knock it around in order to get the food out.  It’s designed to slow down our eating and make us work a little to help keep the weight off.

Wayda minit!  Are you saying I’m fat?

No, Wally…and neither am I.  But it’s a healthier way to dispense our dry food so we don’t get fat.

Wally plays with the SlimCat

So I knock it around like this and the food will come out?

Yep, that’s how you do it.

The food came out

Hey, look!  I got some food out.

Time to eat

Time to eat!  *crunch crunch crunch*

Here’s the lowdown on the PetSafe SlimCat™:

  • It distributes an adjustable amount of food. There are 2 hole sizes to chose from.
  • It’s compatible with most dry foods and holds about 2/3 cup. It will also accommodate most treats, too.
  • It’s a fun way to play and exercise.
  • It fights obesity and helps maintain optimum weight.
  • It’s dishwasher safe.

We’ve had other types of food and treat dispensing toys but they weren’t very sturdy and we were able to break them open and get all the food out at once.  The PetSafe SlimCat™ seems to be pretty indestructible…we haven’t broke it open yet.  There are 2 hole sizes in which the food comes out…one size is kinda large, so if you use a smaller size of dry food, we suggest you adjust the SlimCat™ to the smaller size hole.

Play away the pounds with SlimCat

The SlimCat™ is a good way to help slow down our eating so we eat less…and it gives us cats a fun way to eat and exercise at the same time.  Though in our opinion…this toy is really for humans who want to keep their cats slim and trim.  What self-respecting cat wants to exercise for food, right?

You can find and purchase the SlimCat™ at Chewy.com.

  1. Oh, that looks like fun. Sadly we only eat wet food now.

  2. That does look like a fun toy. I think we might enjoy that. Great review that you two boys did too.

  3. Gosh – that looks like fun AND like it’s a smart way to eat. Mom is happy when I eat ANYTHING these days as I’m pretty skinny compared to how I used to be. But for those who need a bit of “monitoring” (!) I think it’s a super duper idea!

    Hugs, Sammy

  4. Mudpie is enjoying using it as a treat dispenser too 🙂

  5. We don’t eat many treats and can go days without touching them.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

  6. This sure looks like a winner. I certainly know some kitties who could use one of these. Thanks for the great review, Wally and Ernie! Purrs!

  7. that combines Theo’s two favorite activities- playing with toys and eating.

  8. Dang it Mom needs to go to your pet store. The one closest to us didn’t have any thing like that when she was looking to buy my bday pressie
    Hugs madi your bfff

  9. This looks like a good way to slow down a fast eater too.

  10. That is a really cool toy! I really wish Lita would play with something like this. I got her a puzzle feeder once and she looked at me like I was insane.

  11. That looks fun toy! I like that you can adjust hole size.

  12. we use it for treats….Mo likes it a lot – the treats go in, Daiquiri knocks it all over the room and Mo hoovers up the treats 🙂

  13. I like that it’s dishwasher safe. Might give it a try!

  14. We don’t feed much dry food here. Many years ago, when Benny was young, DH bought one of those dispensers. Benny quickly figured out that he could push it down the basement stairs and break it open. LOL

  15. I wonder if it would pass the Binga test! Ha-ha-ha!

  16. I’m pretty sure Rosie would love this …actually Ruby probably would, too.

  17. I need to get one for Joanie, I usually put a golf ball in her dish to slow her down.

  18. Well dat looks innerestin’ boys. Glad ya’ like it. Mostly me’s glad you was able to get food out of it. We had one once and da food never came out. What a bummer. All dat work fur nuffin’. So this sounds like a purretty good deal.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi

  19. That toy is cool! I want to get one!!

  20. Looks like you got a useful toy although TW best not pull that work for your food with me.

  21. We used to have something similar, because Dragonheart tends to gulp his crunchies down and bring them right back up! Then we switched to raw food, but now that Merlin has cancer we are on wet food, with a few Sphynx crunchies as treats when Dragonheart gets his puffer and Merlin gets his meds.

  22. This is a great, interactive way to dispense treats. The head peep keeps hoping someone will come up with a puzzle feeder for wet food, but so far, no go. This is the next best thing!

  23. I really gotta get at least one of those!

  24. Great review boys but we think it’s just a treat dispenser and has nothing to do with slimming anything since you two are purrfect!

  25. We don’t want to work for our food but we sure would work harder for extra treats!

    The Florida Furkids

  26. Our adoptable pals Gabe and Letterman could use one of those!

  27. We think that would be fun…except around here dog-guy would snitch it and the noms so we would starve…sigh…

  28. Great review and great product! Minchie loves those type of treat/food dispensers.

  29. That looks like a great weapon to fling at the mom’s head while she is sleeping. Becuase our toys go on the bed and get tossed around.

  30. But did it work? We’ve tried all kinds and while we don’t need them, I like sharing them with shelter cats. Btw, there is an Evanger update.

    • Yes! It works great. Though as we said, if you use smaller kibble, you’ll want to adjust it using the smaller holes.

  31. Lola: That looks like so much fun! Maybe we should have gotten that to review this month, since Lexy has some junk in the trunk.
    Lexy: I heard that!
Lola: Uh oh…. hide me guys!

  32. That looks like fun, but I am not sure what I would do if I actually had to work to get my food. I hope the human does not get any ideas.

    Sarah and Shadow

  33. With eight of us, we cannot use those for the intended purpose, but they still are fun to play with and get noms. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  34. Maxwell would SO bat that around and nom treats out of it (and then go throw up – ed.)
And come to think of it, Allie would like that too.
But because Maxie and dry kibble are now not getting along — hey, someone needs ta invent a WET FOOD TOY!

  35. Looks like you guys enjoy it as much as my cat bro Bert. He has the blue one, but the green is pretty.

  36. I made a homemade treat toy once, and Sam wasn’t all that impressed! But this one looks better since it’s like a toy and food treater all in one. I think she might like it!
