Hi, everybuddy!  Time for a PSA!!  Today is National Feral Cat Day – a day for everybuddy to think about the outdoor kitties.  Y’know, the ones that look like they don’t have a home?  Like  I was when I was living behind the big building where the guy works.  Feral cats live in every community.  They’re the same as domestic cats ‘cept they’re not socialized to humans so they can’t be adopted into forever homes.

This is the 10th anniversary of National Feral Cat Day which was started by Alley Cat Allies,  a national organization dedicated to the protection and humane treatment of cats, ‘specially feral cats.  The best and most humane way to help a feral cat is through the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, which keeps feral cats from breeding and helps them and humans to co-exist peacefully.  With the help of Alley Cat Allies, more people are setting up TNR programs in their communities.  Click HERE to learn more about Alley Cat Allies and how you can help feral cats.

Okay…that’s my PSA!  Now see that sunpuddle behind me??  I’m gonna crawl in it and take a nap now!!

  1. A very good message today! We have a few feral cats in our neighbourhood and when it gets extra cold with lots of snow, I put food out for them to ensure they are getting at least a little bit to eat. I haven’t seen any babies this year so that is good. I always worry extra about the wee ones in the winter.

Enjoy your snoozy in your sunpuddle! 🙂

  2. Hi Zoey!
Alley Cat Allies is such an awesome organisation. We were able to use some of the information they provide to help a man who lives near us show his neighbours why it was important to look after the colony that was developing nearby them, rather than just have them picked up and destroyed by the council. Their work is having an impact right around the world.

  3. There are lots of feral cats where we live. They are lucky that there are lots of groups that take care of them.

The Florida Furkids and Angel Sniffie

  4. That is a great message. We should always remember the feral cats and the suggles they have.

  5. An excellent report Zoey – your Alley Cat Allies sounds a great organisation.
Now get settled in that sun puddle before Ernie and Wally do.

  6. Momma has a friend at work who has adopted a feral cat. He says that the kitteh does not want to interact with him at all, but if he puts food out and sits down far away from it, the kitteh will come and eat.

  9. Great PSA Zoey! We support a group in our area called Project Purr, they do great things here in Santa Cruz County. They trap, neuter and release, but they also rescue feral kittens, socialize them and adopt them out to forever homes.

    Have a great weekend!

  10. Wonderful PSA, Zoey! Our auntie adopted a big feral tomcat and he is a lovebug!

  11. That is a very impawtant PSA Zoey! Our mommy does what she can to support TNR because she worries about all the kittens being born without homes.

  12. That was a super PSA Zoey. Alley cat Allies is a great organization. They make it possible here to get the cats spayed and neutered for a much lower price. I have sixteen feral kitties living here just because they are so hard to get adopted out. We are going to do a post tomorrow too. Take care.

  29. Zoey dat is a most pawsome message! Our the mom feeds the outside kittehs, some are feral and some use to has homes acuz they want to come up and sit next to the mom but they is a bit askeerd. We hope some day there is no furry without a proper home.

  30. Feral kitties need all the human friends that they can find! Thanks for spreading the word about the Alley Cat Allies. Thanks, too, for your good wishes since I’ve been sick. It’s been pretty yucky, but I’m so lucky to have good mates in the blogosphere to lift my spirits!

  32. You are looking pretty for a former feral Zoey!

  33. Enjoy the sunpuddle! After that good PSA, ya deserve it…

  34. Great message, Zoey! I, Fuzzy, lived outside, but I was not feral – I wanted to be inside! Even if cats wanna stay feral and live outside, it’s nice that people still help them out. We love it!

  35. Feral Cat Day is drawing to a close and I have seen many lovely kitties who have the best forever homes! You are so lucky, too!

May there always be sunpuddles to make you smile!

  36. Excellent post! Here’s to fewer ferals and more homed kitties.

Mom is beside herself with how cute you look Zoey!

  37. Great job on the PSA, Zoey! We (Moe and Mindy, that is) were rescued as feral kittens and now living the good life, indoors and safe.

    Mindy and Moe

  38. Our neighbor still hasn’t found Al Solitaire to get him neutered. She has been looking for him but he has disappeared. Zoey good PSA report. Mom loves your Mom’s new flowers she put out. Mom’s chrysanthemums hasn’t bloomed yet but they have buds on them. Won’t be long now. I would have been a feral cat if Mom hadn’t got me and gave me my forever home. Same with Patches and Cleo.

  39. Great PSA! TNR programs are super-important to keep everyone safe and healthy. Now I hope you enjoyed that nap!
