Hey guys. Hello from ground level. That’s how I took my selfie for today. Do you like it?

Cat sitting on catnip mat

It’s been a strange few days around here. On Thursday night, the power went out in our neighborhood. Y’ know what that means, right? No internets, no TV, no nothing. Now for us cats, stuff like that doesn’t matter much. But for humans…’specially like the mom? Whoa…she gets really discombobulated when the power goes out. All she had to access the internets was her iPhone…and she said reading and typing on that small screen sure is hard on her old eyes. Not to mention the juice in it was running really low. Oh and she couldn’t make coffee. And when the mom doesn’t have her coffee in the morning…well, all we can say is stay way clear of her. Fortunately for us, she ran out to McDonald’s and got some.

The power finally came back on late Friday afternoon. And all is right in the world again. But, like I said…it really didn’t matter much to us cats.

Do you go a little crazy when the power goes out?

  1. Mom always makes a coffee run when that happens– straight to McDonalds. Their coffee is great! She gets the large drink size and drinks it ALL.

  2. Ernie, your selfie is fabulous. Good job. Luckily, our Mom doesn’t drink coffee. Glad you got your electric back. Have a fabulous Sunday.

  3. You always do a great job with your selfies, Ernie. I’m glad disaster was avoided with the return of power at your house. 🙂

  4. Mom here goes crazy when power goes out. She has three of those little battery packs so she can still charge her phone.

  5. You look terrific Ernie! Yep, peeps sure like to have the power on at all times!

  6. Ernie…we are with you re hanging out on the ground. In our case it’s the cool soothing floor we like in summer! We wish to express our condolences for your power outage. We hope you kitties guided your humans around skillfully in the dark!

  7. Now that’s a great wide awake selfie, you have there Ernie. More awake than Mrs H or I as we were both up late (1.30AM) chasing this mousie that happened to wander in the palace. As to coffee, Mrs H likes a drop but prefers her sherry but only when she’s not on the bicycle, MOL

  12. That selfie is awesome, Ernie! Sorry to hear your power went out. Well, sorry for your mom and dad, because, hey, coffee.

  13. Ernie, that is a fabulous selfie today…such gorgeous eyes. The power rarely goes out around here, and the outages never last for very long. Our dad would also need to go out and buy coffee. MOL! Thanks for always hoping with us. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  15. Living without power is just horrible, Ernie. When it happens we know how we need it. Glad your power is back and that your mom can have coffee again and that you could make your beautiful Selfie with a nippy touch in your eyes..maybe 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday 🙂 <3

  16. Great selfie! I can’t live without coffee and internet too , a/c is pretty important right now too.

  18. My human has actually gone out and rented a hotel room when the power has gone out here! Usually, it if happens, it’s from the heat, and she gets heatsick pretty easily.

  19. My mama understands the coffee part REALLY well!

  20. The McDonalds-coffee thing worked for me. Not a McDonalds guy at all, but they do coffee right, and at the right price! That and those little ice cream cones. Nice cat pic!

  21. Ernie what an absolutely gorgeous Easy of you! Your furs are glistening and your eyes sparkle
    Hugs madi your bfff

  22. Ernie! You look great!
Yeah…we’ve lost power a couple of times. And my Mom is OK when the power goes out. She grumbles though…something about camping for years and years instead of taking a real fun holiday.

  23. And what was the reason behind the power outage? I couldn’t find one…so strange! Without power, it’s pretty strange, and The Hubby and I have to converse…OH NOES!
LOL, it’s really not too bad.
Now that I have my bathroom and tub back, I’m a happy camper.

  24. Ernie that is a spectacular selfie!
Our Mom hates it when the power goes out.
If our power stays out too long we lose access to our water which is well water so for any extended time we are SOL. No water, no plumbing, it’s bad. But the only times we have lost power for a lengthy time is during Hurricane Season ( which we are is NOW). Hoping for no storms our way this year.

  25. Great Selfie Sunday! When the power goes out, I like to just “reboot” my brain and go back to doing things the “old fashioned” way before all these new fangled electronic things. A generator keeping the fridge running is all I need and a battery powered radio.

  26. That is a lovely selfie. I would go crazy without my coffee fix, but luckily we have bottled gas to cook with as well as electric.

  27. Oh, there’s nothing worse. It absolutely terrifies me. And what about no air conditioning?!?!?!

  28. Ernie, for the humans here, a power outage is the worst thing ever! No Internet, no TV, no a/c! No coffee or tea for the lady. The horror! Your power was out for a while.

Ernie, we like your selfie a lot. Thanks for showing your big gorgeous eyes!

  29. Hey Ernie! My Mom and Dad do get just a tiny bit wacky when the power goes out but not necessarily because no TV, internet but because of NO A/C or HEAT depending on what time of year it is! That’s right – they are into creature comforts (something we have all the time right?) but fortunately, our power usually is back on within an hour. Otherwise they’d go nuts I’m sure.

    Hugs, Teddy

  30. Wowy, Ernie, the power went out at my house, too! On Tuesday night it totally went out, then flickered on for a split of a kitty’s whisker and then went out and stayed out. And that was while my mom was on the computer, too! But she didn’t think of using her “smartphone” to use the internet like your momma did. That would’ve made sense! Tee hee hee. Winks.

  31. Yup! The humans around here can’t handle it either!

  32. Crikey no power, no coffee. Sounds bad! Glad Mum got some caffeine!

  33. No power is the worst! I can’t imagine being without it for that long.

  34. OMC We know what you mean Ernie, Altho’ we don’t like it too much when the power goes out either. Mommy gets all kinds of spooked thinkin’ spiders are everywhere and out to get her and so we get jumpy too. Glad all is well again. We totally get the no coffee thing. Beware of human without coffee. That’s the sign we post. MOL Big hugs

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena
