Did you see the vishus deer?

Hey Ernie, did you see the visitors we had the other day?

Can’t you see I’m trying to sleep here, Wally?

But Ernie…there were vishus deer in our yard! A whole flock of them!

A herd of deer was in our yard

Wally, I think you mean herd. A group of birds is a flock…a group of deer is a herd.

Flock…herd…I don’t care! There was a bunch of them! See? The mom took some not too great pictures of them. What do you think they were doing?

Vishus deer

Well, it was morning…maybe looking for breakfast?

Do you think they eat cats, Ernie?

I dunno, Wally…and I’m staying inside so I don’t find out. Now let me get back to my nap.

Hey! Ernie here. Before I nod off again…remember our “Caption This” photo from last week?

What do you think I'm thinking?

Well, the creative juices must have been flowing because you guys came up with some really good captions. The mom, the dad-guy and me picked our favorite ones. Here’s what we chose…

The mom’s favorite is… “Target engaged! Butt wiggle commencing, and my prey has no idea!”…submitted by the Eastside Cats.

The dad-guy’s favorite is from Father Tom Fishworthy… “Let’s see what happens when I go ‘WOOF!'”

And my favorite one was submitted by Miss Ellen from 15 and Meowing… “Be vewy quiet, I am hunting a Wab – I mean a Wally!”

Thanks for playing along! We enjoyed reading all your responses as much as Summer did.

  19. Those were some great captions!
We’ve had a group of deer hanging around our house too. You wouldn’t have to worry about them around here, guys, because the dogs chase them off every time. I guess they are making sure Sam stays safe. 🙂

  20. We have never seen so many deer at once. They are beautiful animals ! Thank you for sharing. 🙂

We love all the captions but our Mama loved the “woof” caption best 🙂

  29. Hi, guys! Love that top photo of you two!

I have to say Ellen’s is my favorite too for the caption. Very clever!

p.s. Congrats on being a Nose-to-Nose finalist! It’s very well deserved.

  30. Ooooh We saw a whole bunch of deer the other day too Wally. One almost ran into our car. Stay safe and enjoy your nap Ernie. Big hugs

    Luv ya’

  31. Wow what a deer party! I liked Ellen’s best.

    Shoko

  32. You’re going to give poor Ernie nightmares with all that talk about deer eating cats, Wally! MOL

  33. Those deer look like they enjoy being island deer.

  34. We have deer like that here and they ate all our front yard hostas last year. We are seriously annoyed. TBT is considering getting his crossbow out and outting a MAJOR fear into them. And he has some scented sticks that deliver a static shock to their tongues when they lick it.

  35. The deer figure no one will notice them if they blend in with a certain ginger tiger!
ps – Congratulations on being a finalist!

  36. Aww, it’s fun to caption other cat photos…it’s hard to do my own! Vishus deer do NOT eat cats…but then again, I’m talking about mainland deer; don’t really know about Island deers…

  37. Great caption results! You are lucky that you have the Deer Channel as well as Bird TV.
    Congratulations on the BlogPaws nomination!
    xxoo

  38. Eastside Cats caption was our favorite, too! Vishus deer . . . My woman often comes on deer crossing the road near our home; usually only two or three though. Concats!

  39. What a beautiful flock, I mean herd of deer! Miss Ellen’s caption made me giggle.

  40. Holey Moley we only can dream about this bunch of flocks…deer…see, now I’m all confused, Wally and Ernie 😀 Double Pawkisses 🙂 <3 Btw very funny captions for the picture 😀

  41. We just found out we have deer here too. Can you imagine. I hope they’re not vishus.

  42. OH MY COD not vishus deer guys – stay safe and stay indoors dudes!

Love the caption this pic, just pawesome, our caption would have been: Ernie this is the last time I’m looking under the bed fur your sparkly balls dude! [MOL]

    Big hugs

    Basil & Co xox

  43. Look at those deer!!! There is a herd in Midway. Kozmo says they don’t hang around the house there though…Cinnamon’s bark scares them. And Mom loves all the captions!

  44. That is way too many deer visiting your yard, guys! I hope they do not tell the rest of the herd about the fun times they had at your place…we used to have deer come to visit our yard, too, but now we have a big tall fence…so the deer only go to visit in the neighbor’s yards. They are silly too, and try to cross the road before looking…which causes much consternation…OMC:(
