Cats should NOT be allowed in the dryer

Wally! What are you doing in the dryer? You know you’re not supposed to be in there! It’s one place that is definitely off limits to you cats!

But mom, I saw our blanket in here, you know…the one that’s usually kept in our carrier…and I just had to check it out.

I washed and dried the blanket, Wally, so it will be nice and clean when you go the vet next time.

VET?!?! I hope I don’t have to go anytime soon!

Don’t worry, Wally…I’ll make sure it’s a surprise.

Island Cat Mom here. I don’t normally let the cats get into get into the dryer…it’s one place a cat should NEVER be allowed. But when Wally jumped in to check out the blanket that was still in there, I had to take a quick photo before getting him out.

Please remember to always keep the door to the dryer closed when not in use. A warm dryer is an inviting spot for a heat-seeking cat, but it can be a dangerous place as well.

  1. Wally, here’s hoping that your next vet appointment is years away!
    *wink*

  2. It’s so hard not to go where the warm blanket is, isn’t it, Wally? We have dryer battles here at our house. Housemate Toby is the usual dryer invader. I don’t have a separate laundry room, as my house is designed so that the laundry machines are just at the edge of the kitchen, right beside the refrigerator. We also have a “close the dryer door the second you are finished” rule because of this.

  3. Oh Wally the peeps are such spoiled sports. A warm blanket is hard to pass up.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  4. Great job Inspector Wally!

  5. Be careful, Wally! We know your mom will return your blanket.

  6. We can totally understand why Wally jumped in there. His blanket! Bet it was nice and warm!

  7. Oh that just had to be too tempting to pass up! A favorite blankie in a nice warm dryer? HEAVENLY! But you’re right – that’s not a good spot to “nest” in!!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  8. Who could resist a warm blanket ? Purrs

  9. Oh Wally when I first looked at the photo I thought it was some new cat toilet…until I read the blog….I don’t have a dryer. Warm blankets are always the best.x

  10. We kittehs LOVE to be exactly where we aren’t supposed to be.

  11. We aren’t allowed in the garage (well, not unless we are in our carriers and my human is taking us somewhere), and that is where the washer and dryer are. So we never get to see inside the dryer.

  12. Who said that we cats like clean blankets?!?

  13. Cats are so funny. Really. This was good. Thanks, Wally. XO

  14. It’s nice that your Mama keeps your vet appointments a surprise Wally . . ..although we don’t particularly like that kind of surprise . .

the critters in the cottage xo.

  15. Oh, you’ll never believe this. We heard a strange sound from our dryer, years ago, ka thump ka thump and ran to the dryer and our Tuxie, Sushi, came out sort of staggering and looking VERY fluff dried! Thank heaven the low heat was on and she was in only 2 minutes, but oh, lordy, she was rattled. I have to say that a fluff-dried black and white Tuxie is an amazing sight. Her fur settled down very soon, but I wish I had had a camera for her expression. Yes, dryers are a NO NO. We had no idea she was in there as it was a big dryer and she had tucked herself in the clothes.

  16. A warm blanket can be mighty enticing!

  17. I saw Rufus’ tail disappearing into the dryer recently too. Orange rascals!
I also reached for the camera before ushering him out…
    xxoo

  18. I am guessing it very warm in there!

  19. So cute! My childhood cat Patch always loved blankies once they came out of the dryer too 🙂

  20. That’s a good safety reminder. We don’t have access to the garage where the dryer is, so we only get the clean blankets once they come out in the laundry basket.

  21. Wally, you could always wait until Mom takes it out and puts it in the laundry basket…that’s a nice cozy place too! 🙂
Our cat Katie actually jumped into the WASHER once (when I was loading it)! So I also had to be extra careful before starting that!!

  22. That is so cute 🙂

  23. It’s an orange thing! Our old bro Russell got into the dryer once, and there wasn’t even a blanket involved!

  24. It’s so cold here that you can’t blame a cat for looking for a nice warm spot–but don’t worry I always keep it closed too!

  25. If she is going to keep your stuff in there you are going to have to check it out.

  26. WoW 1 I have never seen inside our dryer It’s above the washing machine! How cool that you got to see the inside! That is a once in a lifetime experience!

  27. You are so right Sue! The dryer is off limits to kitties. No matter what they say!

  28. Wally, that ain’t no place for a cat! It’s like a rollercoaster or something if it goes on

  29. Mum keeps the door shut on ours, plus it is so easy to see me. But I don’t jump in. Derby did!

  30. That’s a fun picture, Wally, but your Mom is right. Don’t be going in there!

  31. Bentley loves spending time in the laundry room. There is nothing better than a warm blanket. I know you’d never let your cats get into any dangerous situation. You are an awesome cat parent.

  32. MOL…dryer’s have to be checked…MOL 😀 Pawkisses for a Clean Thursday 🙂 <3

  33. I used to worry about the washer and dryer all the time. Ours are front loaders so they can get into both. Every time I would start a load I would check carefully to make sure a cat was not hiding in there, although keeping the door shut is a better idea that I didn’t consider. We now have the washer and dryer in the shed so I worry less.

  34. We hear the dryer is a nice warm place, but we have never been in one. The Mom has to go down a floor and across the building to use the dryer here, and she never takes us with her (which is okay by us, MOL!).

  35. yup, diego-san is super curious about the dryer. I always make sure I know where he is before turning the dryer on.

  36. Careful, Wally! Dryers are dangerous places. But it’s hard to stay away from a nice warm blanket, isn’t it?

  37. Aww Wally, I sure hope the vet visit is not in the near future 🙂

  38. Wally, we can see how it would be hard to resist a warm dryer with a warm blankie in it.Hopefully, your next vet visit is a long way away!

  39. That is a cute photo. I’m almost paranoid about the dryer and my cats, and give it an extra look when the door is opened

  40. dood….we hope momz knot lion when her said no vizitz thiz yeer ~~~~~~ N joy gettin yur blankit
    reFURbished ! ☺☺♥♥

  41. You are such a curious kitty Wally! I hope your next vet appointment is not in the near future.

  42. Mom says that she only remembers a cat getting in the dryer once, and she doesn’t remember which of it was. She got kitty out super fast. Mom got a good chuckle about the next vet visit being a surprise. We did not laugh. 43. oh yeah, the mom has to keep a weather eye out for Maxwell especially, when laundry day comes around. THe warmz from that thing are soooooooo good!

  44. Wally you help with laundry all so?? Furabuluss!
    **nose bumpsss** Siddhartha Henry xXx

  45. Minko would try to sneak in there too…but yes, shoo them right out ASAP!

Though…Wally you look like you want to keep on top of that warm softness! And not in the carrier, MOL!
