Hi guys. You remember that I’m a Cat Scout, right? I know it’s been awhile since I’ve talked about Scouts and all the fun things we do…probably because I haven’t been really active lately. But when I heard it was time for the Cat Scouts Cardwood Derby again, I knew I had to get back into the action.
What’s the Cardwood Derby you ask? It’s where each Cat Scout designs a vehicle out of a cardboard box. There’s only two rules…there has to be at least one box in the design and you have to have a picture of you driving your vehicle. Originality outweighs speed.
I don’t know if you remember my last entry in the Cardwood Derby. It was this truck. I won an honorable mention for best use of sponsors’ logos and a special safety award for my heavy-duty windshield.
This year, I decided to soup up my vehicle and make it a real Monster Truck. So I took it into the garage and got to work on it.
And here it is…
I switched out the tires for some real monster tires and added a roll bar. Oh yeah…the grill now has more of that Monster Truck look to it, too.
Gotta give it one last inspection to make sure everything is good to go. If you notice, I’m wearing my kerchief that I got for participating in our last Cat Scout Quest. Yep, the truck’s looking good!
Okay, it’s time for me to get in this bad boy and rev up the engine. Vaaaarrroommmmm! Can you hear that? The engine roars like a lion!
There will be prizes for the best designed vehicle. You should see some of the other Scouts’ vehicles…the Derby competition is stiff this year! There will be a vote for the most popular design…and you can vote if you want. I’ll let you know how you can do that once the ballot is up. So stay tuned!
