That’s right…it’s my 10th Gotcha Day! Wow! I can hardly believe it’s been 10 whole years since the mom gotted me from the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society shelter and brought me here to the Island to live.
I don’t remember how I ended up in the shelter…they said it was because the place I was living before didn’t allow pets. I was about 7 months old at the time. I was a little worried about finding a new home because I’m a black cat…and you’ve all heard the stories about how hard it can be for black cats to be adopted.
But y’know what? I found my home because I was black! When the mom was looking for a new cat to adopt, she read how black cats were considered to be less adoptable. And she knew right then and there she had to adopt a black cat. So she started searching on Petfinder.com for black cats in shelters around here. And she found me. And y’know what else convinced her that I was the one? I’m a polydactyl…I got extra toesies…and the mom thought that was pretty cool. Lucky me! Lucky her!
I’d have to say that day 10 years ago when I got gotted was one of the best days of my life. Because on that day, I became an Island Cat. And seriously, there’s nothing better in the world to be.
So c’mon! Put on your party hats…grab a balloon (pop it if you want!)…and celebrate with me today! Let’s have some fun!
