Hi ya, kitties! Thanks for coming by yesterday and celebrating my Gotcha Day with me. I had a great day! But there was one thing bugging me. A couple of days before my Gotcha Day, this came in the mail.
Hey, PetSmart! I got a bone to pick with you! Who the heck is Mistick and why are you sending him a birthday card to my house? And where is my birthday card? PetSmart, you got some ‘splaining to do.
Sorry, Mistick, whoever you are. I’m gonna be enjoying that free treat instead of you!!
Island Cats’ mom here. The only explanation I have is that, although Ernie was adopted from a local shelter, he actual was adopted through the PetSmart that the shelter worked with. Ernie’s name at the shelter was “Mister” and I think someone at PetSmart made a typo…thus “Mistick.” Ernie doesn’t know it, but Mistick has been receiving a birthday card like this for the past several years. Unfortunately, this time, Ernie got to the mail before I did.

We think you Mom should get up earlier on your Gotcha Day so you don’t get the wrong card for the wrong cat Ernie. Mind you we wouldn’t pass on the freebie voucher!!

We only got one card for each kitty and no more from petsmart. That is probably because we forgot to use them!

Love that! Kudo’s to PetSmart for doing that for adopted kitties. Petco doesn’t do that!
And Happy Gotcha Day Ern. Although I think it’s a bit more than co-inkydink that the mis-spelling of a a black cats name went from Mister to Mystick (which is like a thousand times better!) BUT not nearly as good as Ernie we admit.

A treat is a treat! As they say, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
If you think Mistick or Mister are a bad names, my shelter name was Goldie. Huh? I’m a black & brown tabby – no gold anywhere. The mom ran into the person who named me that a couple years later and asked (nicely) WHY?? My litter mates (who were all adopted before me) were named after jewels, like Opal, Pearl, Onyx etc. Guess they ran out of jewels when they got to me.
