These are our little sticky cousins,
John and Joel
(okay…so they really aren’t that sticky)
and their kitty, Java.
So, we guess that makes Java our kitty cousin.
Java just celebrated her 1st Gotcha Day
this past weekend!
Happy Gotcha Day, Java!!

We have a favor to ask of all our furiends in the U.S. The local rescue group we support, P.A.W.S. of Michigan, is planning to open a low cost, high quality, high quantity spay/neuter clinic in our area sometime this year. In order to raise funds for this clinic, they’ve entered this idea in the Pepsi Refresh Project and hope to win a $50,000 grant.
What’s the Pepsi Refresh Project, you ask? Pepsi is looking for people, businesses and non-profits with ideas that will make a positive impact in our world. They’re giving away millions of dollars to fund these great ideas. Ideas are submitted to the Refresh Project and then everbuddy votes for the idea they think deserves funding. The highest vote-getting ideas will win a grant, with Pepsi awarding up to 32 grants a month!!
Did you know that every year, 3-4 million cats and dogs are euthanized in shelters across the country because there aren’t enough homes for all of them? High volume spay/neuter surgery is a proven solution for decreasing euthanasia and controlling pet overpopulation. If they win a grant, P.A.W.S. of Michigan will use the money towards opening a spay/neuter clinic in our area where, due to high euthanasia rates and the struggling economy, this clinic is needed more than ever.
Now here’s where we’re asking for your help. Please consider voting for P.A.W.S. of Michigan in their quest for a Pepsi Refresh Project grant.
Click this icon to go vote!
It’s simple and easy to vote. You can vote up to 10 times a day until the end of May. But only U.S. residents can vote.
We thank you, P.A.W.S. of Michigan thanks you, but most of all, all the unwanted kitties and woofies thank you!!!

Y’know one thing us kitties don’t like doing? Yakking up a hairball! That’s no fun at all!! And long-furred kitties like me are more likely to have hairballs. Not that short-furred kitties can’t get them, too. I’ve seen Ernie and that orange-stripey cat yak up a good one!
Hairballs are not good for us kitties. That’s why today, we’re teaming up with Romeo the Cat and the FURminator people to celebrate National Hairball Awareness Day and share information on how to prevent getting hairballs.
Here’s five tips from the FURminator people on how to prevent hairballs:
1. Regular Grooming: Ask your human to groom you regularly by using a grooming tool like the FURminator deLuxe deShedding Tool, which reduces shedding by nearly 90%.
2. Home Remedies: Ask for a little canned pumpkin mixed in with your stinky goodness once or twice a week. The fiber in the pumpkin can help move any hair clogs through your system.
3. Stay Hydrated: Make sure you drink lots of water. Tell your human to put several water bowls throughout the house. Water helps flush out the hair before it has time to clump in your stomach.
4. A New Menu: There are several specially formulated cat foods that aid in the fight against hairballs. You might want to ask your human to get you some. But of course, make sure your human asks your v-e-t before changing your diet drastically.
5. Ask Your V-e-t: If you have chronic hairball problems, have your human ask your v-e-t to recommend a laxative supplement to help prevent ingested hairs from forming hairballs. The lady with the yellow hair gives me some yummy tasting stuff in a tube a few times a week so I don’t get clogged up with hairballs.
I hope these tips help you in your fight against hairballs!!
Now, to celebrate National Hairball Awareness Day, we’re having another giveaway! (We really like giving stuff away!!) The nice FURminator people gave us a FURminator deShedding Tool. But since we already have one, we’re gonna give it to one of our furiends. All you gotta do is leave us a comment telling us you want the FURminator and you’ll be entered into our random drawing. One entry per household or family…and everybuddy is eligible, even our furiends outside the U.S. We’ll announce the winner next week.

Okay…I gotta go get FURminated now!!

The nice people at SeaYu who make Clean+Green, the only eco-friendly aerosol pet cleaning products on the planet, asked us if we would try and then review one of their products. The cleaners are made from organic biodegradable ingredients that are safe for pets! Even the container it comes in is recyclable! There’s a Clean+Green cleaner for carpets, wood & tile floors, concrete, furniture, the litter box and even cars!! If you wanna read more about Clean+Green, you can visit the website by clicking HERE.
Well, of course we said yes! We’re all for safe products for us cats that also are safe for the earth!!
One of the things that our mom is concerned about is our litter box. She doesn’t want it to be stinky and when people come over they sniff and say “oh, you must have cats!” And we don’t like a stinky box either!! So we tried the Clean+Green Litter box Cleaner.

The litter box cleaner is designed to remove urine smell and stains in and around the litter box. Our mom used it when she cleaned out our boxes…and she also sprayed it directly on the litter between cleanings.
Y’know what?? This stuff really works!! Our litter boxes don’t smell stinky!! And the Clean+Green doesn’t just mask the urine smell with some perfumey scent…it gets rid of the odor completely and you don’t smell anything!!
Hey…I don’t smell any pee!!
Yeah, Wally…this box doesn’t stink!!
Hey, a little privacy please!!
Sheesh!! I’m outta here!!
Now, here’s the fun part! The SeaYu people said we could give away one of their products to one of our furiends! All you gotta do is leave us a comment and tell us you wanna try the Clean+Green products. We’ll have a random drawing and the lucky winner will get to pick one Clean+Green product to try for free!! Unfortunately, we hafta limit this to our furiends in the U.S. and Canada only (the SeaYu people can’t ship their products overseas
). We’ll announce the winner this Thursday, April 29.
So let us know if you wanna try Clean+Green and be in the drawing. Of course, if you wanna buy it, you can order it from the Clean+Green website by clicking HERE. (And right now, they’re having a sale!!) We don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Happy Earth Day, everybuddy!
In honor of Earth Day today, we’re following our furiend, Sparkle’s, lead and participating in the “My Blog is Carbon Neutral” initiative started by a site from Germany called Mach’s Grün, or “Make It Green” in English. “Make It Green” is planting trees for free to erase the carbon footprint that blogs create. We don’t know much about carbon footprints and we didn’t even know our blog had one, but we think planting trees is a good thing!!

“Make It Green” will plant one tree for every blog that participates in the “My Blog is Carbon Neutral” initiative. The trees are being planted in the Plumas National Forest in Northern California by the “Arbor Day Foundation.” Back in 2007, there were a couple of huge fires in the forest that destroyed 88,000 acres of trees!! Whoa!! That’s a whole lotta trees that were lost!!! The goal is to help reforest 5,500 acres of the Plumas National Forest with 792,000 trees. Planting began this week.
Now, here’s how you can participate in the “My Blog is Carbon Neutral” initiative and get a tree planted to help erase your blog’s carbon footprint. All you gotta do is write a short blog post about this program, put a carbon neutral badge on your blog (you can choose from a bunch), and send the “Make It Green” people an email with a link to your blog post.
So c’mon!! Make your blog carbon neutral, too!!!

Our furiends, Nixon and Fatty over at Purrs n’ Snorts, sent us this great book called “Three Stories You Can Read to Your Cat” by Sara Swan Miller.
Sharing this book with other cats is the idea of Nofuratu who started a book club called “The Litteracy Box.” The goal is to circulate this book around the world so that other cats can share in the experience of having this book read to them by their humans.
Hey, Ernie! This book sure smells like other cats!!
Reading to us was a great way for our mom to spend some time with us! The first story’s called “The Rainy Day” and it’s about how this kitty spends his day indoors ‘cuz it’s raining and he can’t go out.
This is a good story!!
And we love looking at the pictures!!
Here! Let me help turn the pages!!!
The other two stories – “The Yummy Bug” and “The Good Day” – were just as entertaining!
If you’re interested in receiving this book next so that you can have your human read it to you, please let us know in the comments. We’ll randomly select somebuddy to send it to. All you hafta do is post a review and then send it on to somebuddy else! We really enjoyed this book and we think you will too!!
